It has actually happened several times, most recently our dear Money.

And Marciano, tho a great, great fighter, had some bad nights and benefited from some luck... The Lowry decision, the first Lastarza decision, having Walcott shoot his wad in the 11th and 12th and walk into a big shot in the 13th, not being stopped for that nasty cut against Charles (would Charles have gotten that benefit of the doubt?), not getting DQ'd against C*ckel... Some people have a talent for making luck, tho...

In the end, I see Marciano as more of a compiler, a guy squeaked through when necessary against overall lesser competition. Take nothing away from him. Them's are just the facts.

Complete intellectual diarrhea. You can make the same nit picking stupid ass arguement against any former hwt champion. What bull****. Total ****.

The disdain of the anti-intellectual is the highest compliment. Thank you.

And your claim of Marciano being an utterly consistent performer is rot. You obviously either have not read the next day reports of his fights or have forgotten them entirely.

Never said he was "utterly consistent". He went undefeated in 49 fight. No other hwt champion has accomplished this. Not an easy task no matter who you are facing.

I see completely through your meager attempts on here. Dreadful. You really should be ashamed of yourself. **** of the lowest order.

"Ashamed"? For asking a perfectly legitimate question? Did I cross some moral or ethical boundary by stating that the guy had some fortunate luck (not the least of which was fighting in an era bereft of young, large, talented fighters)?

Sorry if I am not feeling the response you suggest.

No way of knowing this again he might get a shock and lose to Layne for all we know. If we could say this with certainly how good a fighter will do we would all be rich. Tyson could well have just as much trouble with Walcott, Charles, and Moore as Rocky did.

Also, how can you just quote each different paragraph? So I can go to each point that way instead of just bolding? Thanks.

If your point is that anything could happen, well then fine, I guess. But there aren't any particular reasons to believe that the Tyson of 1989-91 has any difficulties against those little aging men, or that they even fare as well against him as they did against the smaller, slower, sloppier Marciano.

That's fair and the point I was trying to make. I just don't see Tyson beating these guys as easily as some are thinking and can see how the men I listed could win. I could see Tyson having difficulties as the fight progresses. Tyson doesn't have many late round KO's. Something I think Walcott or Charles could take advantage of. By staying away for 6 or 7 rounds in a 15 round fight. As he tires they can start pouring it on and win enough rounds for a close decision win. Though I can see how others can see the opposite. If it was 12 rounds though Tyson would probably win the decision I'll admit that.

I guess what I'm really trying to say is that Tyson can go unbeaten but he can lose and it wouldn't be as easy to go unbeaten for him as so many think. Not trying to tear down Tyson or argue with anyone. Just in case I'm coming off that way.

I could be wrong but I'm sure the men were matching Tyson against have a longer reach and more knockouts. So your religious interpretation is pretty much unfounded.

But he did walk through Spinks, we've seen the fight.

He did lose to Douglas, we've seen the fight.

Again for the fifth time in this thread, no one expected Douglas to win, but he did so therefore we have to look at how and why.

Can't see shopworn cruiser sized guys like Walcott, Charles and Moore, legends though they are, beating Tyson. As for LaStarza, Layne, C*ckell etc, forget it.

    1) Douglas was really committed for that fight
    2) Tyson was on the slide and hadn't trained as he should have.

I think that the Old Masters of Ezzard, Walcott and Moore were in a condition to take advantage of that.
