I have noticed Usyk and cruiserweights in general are conspicuously absent from many boxing websites' pound per pound lists. Seems unfair to me.
Yeah he belongs right around number 10 p4p. The reason he isn't on the experts p4p lists isn't because he's a cruiserweight, it's because he hasn't had a marquee win yet. Winning the WBSS should change that.
Yup that is the key for top10. He went to Poland, Germany, USA and now Latvia to hunt the wins. I think this should be kept in mind as well when the experts are ready to find a place for him in the top spots.
It's obvious that winning the WBSS puts him in it but in reality all he needs is the win over Briedis. If he loses the final to Gassiev/Dorticos then so be it. Just take him out. But a win over Briedis gets him in. That goes in reverse as well. If Briedis wins hes in.
Already on mine. If he moves up to HW and wins a title he's in contention for being top of the list as well.
He won't move up to heavyweight until he wins the tournament....................he would easily out box Wilder fight now.................good tuneup fight for him.............
Usyk is freaking good. If he keeps on doing what he's doing, he's going to be poking the backsides of guys like GGG, Crawford and Loma with a stick on the p4p lists. As Querty said, he just needs the signature win.
Wins over: Glowacki, Mchunu, and Huck If he wins his next bout, very likely to warrant it. If he wins the tourney with flying colors, with how good Dorticos and Gassiev are looking at the moment, then certainly. The whole Pound for Pound elite is so soft right now, can't complain too much about anybody being on a list.
There's some weird bias to put midget fighters in P4P lists in weight divisions where most countries don't even have boxers and there is much smaller numbers of boxers.
