Does Usyk have the best feints in boxing history?

Probably a weird thing to say but I find his feints to be a thing of beauty, they are just so nice to watch. His feinting game has improved as his career has progressed, his feints used to be a much smaller part of his arsenal but now I genuinely don’t think there’s ever been a boxer with better feints, they are probably one of the primary reasons for his dominance at HW.

Obviously SRL, Floyd, Ali, Loma, RJJ, Sweet pea, Pacman and Duran are up there too.

But I can’t definitively say one of them is better at feinting

That honor belongs to Roberto Duran.

Willie Pep once won a round with just feints!

Did he, or is this boxing myth? Won a round without throwing a punch always sounds rather incredible...

He is certainly one of the best at it. The best? Not sure.

I love Usyk but IMO he sticks to a handful of punches - the jab, the left cross and the occasional right hook. Of course his jab does vary from the body jabs to the up jabs and the straight ones to the head. Ditto with his left hand.

He doesn't throw a lot of uppercuts and usually throws his right hook as a check and rarely puts a lot of power into his right hook even though it does appear to be a powerful punch when he commits to it.

I would like to see his feinting leading to a bit more variety of punches - in particular uppercuts and right hooks.

To me, the best feinter ever would simply use more variations when he is throwing punches. Duran is a good example of a guy who threw every punch out there which made his feints even more effective because you had to deal with a wide range of potential punches.

I once knocked out someone by feinting a punch at his solar plexus.

That's a boxing myth I'm afraid which has been debunked repeatedly. No news reports or footage exists which details such an event happening.

I believe it, regardless of truth. It's too good a story.

Like I've said many times before, Usyk has had like at least 5 head trainers in his corner. With the exception of his pro debut he had the same head trainer until he was 11-0, then he had about 3 different head trainers in the corner for his next 4 fights until he was 15-0: Hunter, Huck, Briedis, Gassiev. And he's only settled into having a steady one again since Bellew and moving up to HW

Look at how many uppercuts he throws here. Lead left. lead right uppercuts.

I 100% agree that he has variety. I have seen him throw some lovely uppercuts and hooks too. My only minor complaint is he under utilizes them. I suppose it could be due to the wide range of trainers he has had.

His feints would be even more effective with the variations that he possesses.

Yeah, he's a different fighter and has modified his style a number of times, partly due to having different trainers, and partly due to age. People forget how brilliant a combination puncher he used to be too. He can still put combinations together but he does so rarely these days and not with the same form, fluidity, speed, accuracy and beauty
