I also think the people of ESB should also realize is the role that casual boxing fans will have the success of a rematch coming through. In reality the casual fans are the movers and shakers of a match happening since they are paying for the fight. The casual fans saw a cheap shot regardless of the rules and are pretty upset of how things went down. They would more than likely pay for a rematch.

Nothing Ortiz did in their fight suggests he'd be even competive against Mayweather.

Ortiz needs to fight some top Welters and get back in line.

I belve that when a champion loses and Ortiz was techanaly the champion (he won it in a catchweight fight so there should have been a * next to his championship. To really be a welterweight champion Mayweather and Pacquiao needs to beat Andre Berto IBF or Viacheslav Senchenko WBA in fights at the 147 welterweight limit.) So as the official former champion Ortiz deserve just as any former champion a chance to get his championship back.
There is a however. The however is that the result is going to be a one sided win for Mayweather, and Mayweather should be looking for a more chalanging fight.

Perhaps if Floyd were younger i wouldn't mind but he has maybe 2-4 fights left so I don't want to see him waste another on Ortiz since he was schooling him anyways.

Wrong. The point was to make Floyd look even more like "the bad guy," an image they cultivated throughout the 24/7 buildup.

This will make PPV numbers for Mayweather-Pac go through the roof.

Hell to the mother****ing no. Maybe if Floyd was more active it would be ok, just to shut up the casual (and stupid) boxing fans who felt cheated out of a longer fight. But with the frequency that Floyd has been fighting we don't need to see that one sided fight again.

He needs to fight Pac and everybody knows it.

    I say no.
He got sucker punched, but with his behaviour right before the KO, the question mark on whether he purposely stayed down, and his jovial demeanor afterwards, he doesn't deserve it.
Mayweather should fight Pac or Martinez, forget about fighting clowns like Ortiz.
