Nah thats a myth he was stopped on a injury. He has been KOd once and that was by a kick to the head.
No Vitali quit. At first K2 denied he ever lost to Maskaev, then changed the story about 9 times. Just like with Pele Reid. K2 denied it happened, then said it was a kick to the leg that stopped Vitali but then admitted Vitali was out cold from a spinning heel kick to the Chin.
i can think of 2 or 3 fights where he actually took good punches...which still makes his chin an unknown commodity...but it does mean he is good enough to not get him much and 30 of those 45 opponents never had a chance in hell to even land a punch wheres all the bombers that chin checked him? please do tell
I wouldn't argue against a top 10 chin. Though he hasn't faced a whole lot of punches. But he took some hellacious shots from Lewis, so his chins is a definite asset. Keith
I'm not sure about top 10 ATG chin, I don't think we have enough information to say one way or the other. Maybe top 10 ATG HW Chin I think can be said. I don't care what anyone says though, he took bombs from one of the best ever right hands in HW history. Lewis had serious power, and to not even go down is to say the least very respectable! Something thats been mentioned is Vitali does have a pretty darn good defense, and that can tend to give you longevity in the sport.
Shannon Briggs, Chris Arreola, Samuel Peter, Danny Williams, Corrie Sanders, Lennox Lewis and Herbie Hide are just a few (or perhaps all) of the big punchers VK has faced. This is info for those who act like all of his fights have been pillow fights. If you want an example of a pillow fight, just watch as VK walks thru the feather fisted pig boy tomorrow night. Horrible Ken Norton KO'd by Jerry Cooney type of KO coming at you in HD living color.
No fighter has a 10 chin rating. Vitali's too tall, and never gets hit with full leverage from fighters, because their having to punch up. Include this with good defense and head movement, and you have a very elusive fighter that don't take a lot of damage. I honestly believe if the fight carried on, Lewis would have caught him with another upper cut and he would have went to sleep.
What... And if Lennox couldn't put him down with that absolutely flush uppercut, he wasn't going to do it later.
You honestly believe that eh? Well, you honestly believe that your post sounds intelligent? It ain't happening. chico g sent me an angry PM over this. Nothing in the personal message to me changed my low rating of his intelligence. LOL! poor guy!
Lewis should get a 10/10 b/c he has an amazing chin?!?, after all he got knocked out by Rahman and McCall. Vitali has never been knocked out or knocked down in a boxing fight......that says a lot. And it's not his fault that he has good enough defense that allows his to take less shots. I'm not saying Vitali is a really hard hitter, Wlad imo hits much harder. But everyone pretty much agrees that Vitali has an iron chin and is the tougher of the two brothers. I'd like to see another heavyweight that could take that uppercut Lewis threw at Vitali. And since we're talking about chins, McCall has always had a very good chin. Tua did too almost his whole career until he got knocked down by Barrett, but that might have been due to stamina/age.
