Does Wilder deserve an easy next defence?

There is no game to play.

Looking back I am also not overly impressed with Joshua's win against Wladimir, it was an exciting fight, just like Wilder Ortiz was exciting but..

Wladimir was coming off a one sided and humiliating defeat and was 40+, hadn't fought for over a year I believe.. so a young, hungry and supposedly very talented Champion should have made lighter work of it.

Now, Ortiz struggled to get Dave Allen out of there, hit him all night, didn't drop him and Allen was stopped on his feet, let's not forget Ortiz tested positive for a banned substance after Dave Allen.

Ortiz struggled and looked awful against Malik Scott.. so how on God's earth is he the force you say he is?

Lets not pretend Ortiz is some monster.

No one looked great in HW division :) Ortiz was one of the best possible opponents.

Even Wilder did not look "great" in his recent fights by his doubters , so what ? :D

No he's shown he belongs at this level now, dropping back down to fighting at a sub par level will undo much of the good work he did in the build up to Ortiz.

Martin would be a clear cherry pick and do nothing to build a fight with Joshua. Wilder's options are limited though, if it isn't Joshua next then the winner of Whyte/Browne would be a good next opponent.

Breazeale is dangerous on paper as he's tough, can punch and been on a good run of late but I doubt he has the marketability to be anything but a last resort.

Povetkin would be a great fight but can't see Povetkin wanting it with a big Joshua payday being inevitable, but then who knows maybe Povetkin believes he can win like Ortiz did and doesn't see it as a risk.

Why not, he's had an easy career. Wilder vs Kyotaro Fujimoto in Alabama next.

    Exactly, so what's your point?

All I was saying was.. Wilder fought Ortiz in his 40th fight so how does he deserve an "easy night" after that?

There are no hard fights anymore anyway haha. Only Joshua. Browne/Breazale/Whyte are just another victims of being knocked out

Why would he want an easy defense? He's the Greatest boxer of all time, the baddest man on the planet, half hybrid. They should all be easy defenses to him.

F**k easy fights.. Hope the fight with AJ is next.. If no Joshua maybe Whyte.. Other than that no easy fights. Hes the champ no easy fights when you wanna be the best which hes always talking about being the best ''baddest man'' etc etc etc..

Whyte is so overrated, the only reason he should take that fight would be to increase his popularity in the UK - not because it's any kind of hard fight whatsoever.

Not sure what people see in him, there is a blatant lack of skill.

Wilder would knock him out quickly.

Why do you mention Povetkin's failed tests and completely ignoring Ortiz's?

Especially considering Ortiz's have been more prolonged.

I think Wilder beats him of course.. But other than that there is an extreme lack of talent aside from Whyte and the reason I think Whyte would be the best option is exactly what you said about the UK popularity which I think is where the Joshua fight should happen but if it ends up in the US then he looks good in front of the UK AJ nuthuggers and creats more buzz for the AJ fight. I think Wilder KO's Whyte faster than AJ did too.

He could step down to a Parker/Takam type guy after beating Ortiz. That would be fine.

Cause Ortiz DID not fail any test recently. It was 4 years ago.
