Does Wilder need to raise his profile to get future fights with AJ and Fury?

It takes way more than that to be a popular fighter in the US. You need genuine crossover appeal to become popular, since boxing isn't a popular sport in America, so boxers need to rise above the sport of boxing to become popular. For example Floyd spent years making guest appearances in Wrestling such as having a match at Wrestlemania, playing celebrity basketball, etc. Floyd also partnered up with Oscar and matched himself against mostly Mexican fighters on Cinco De Mayo and Mexican Independence Day knowing Mexican fans would pay in the hopes of seeing him lose, which meant he was always selling tickets and not giving them away like Wilder did against Molina and Arreola.

Also, I can't find the interview anymore, but Oscar hinted that he wasn't happy that Wilder overruled him on having the Wilder-Molina match in Los Angeles where Molina was at least known to Mexican boxing fans to instead having the match in Birmingham Alabama where they had to basically give tickets away, since I doubt anyone in Alabama had ever heard of Molina.

Will Tyson Fury's next fight be on PPV? Yes.
Will AJ's next fight be on PPV? Yes.
Will Wilder's next fight be on PPV? No.
Who needs to raise their profile?

In a poll Ray Leonard was voted the sexiest athlete in the world in 1991 in a certain magazine, I doubt Wilder could have won that kind of admiration for his looks.

Terrible promotion in general. It's both sad and telling that there are Youtubers like KLX or whatever his name is that engage in charity boxing matches who are more popular and well-known than Wilder.

Brands don't build themselves. Neither he nor his team invested anything into building his profile; they didn't take the risks to improve his resume fast enough or capitalise on his potential appeal as a wild punching knockout artist. They took no opportunities to utilise either traditional media (talk shows and the like) or social media to improve his awareness among the public.

He's one of the most mismanaged fighters I've ever seen, and a huge missed opportunity.

I think he should learn how to talk in interviews, he sounds like an idiot when he speaks I think this alienates fans, Ray Leonard even appealed to housewives, my mum loved Ray v Hagler, I showed her Wilder`s rant about race on facebook and she was not impressed by the naked hate in his face.

I wonder why doesn't Wilder himself sign with ESPN. I think he has been far too loyal to ShowTime who have under promoted him and under paid him. For a guy with his knock out power and record, he should have been built into a PPV fighter a long time ago and should have fought better fighters long before.

No amount of talk, PR stunts, youtube interviews, social media hype, wins against modest opposition, etc would raise Wilder's profile as much as a fight for all 4 belts. Once the fight is signed and a date is set - his profile would be super easy to market.

If he needs to make some compromises and risk his belt/0 to do that ... so be it.

    That's the bottom line IMO.

Not really, their rivalry is set in stone. The first fight set the bar and the second can only raise it. The only problem is that Fury is scared of getting hurt.

That’s just it though. Wilder isn’t signed to anyone and just picks and chooses who’s promotional services he’ll use on a fight by fight basis, so he isn’t in a position for a promotional outfit to build him into anything.

Wilder since cutting ties with Oscar was pretty adamant about not being contractually tied down to a promoter or network and he doesn’t seem willing to budge on that stance.

Well, none of Joshua's fights have been on PPV in the U.S. Neither will the Miller fight.

Only one of Fury's fights has been on PPV in the US (against Wilder). Fury's next fight won't be on PPV, either.

Only one of Wilder's fights has been on PPV in the US (against Fury).

And all people talk about when it comes to Wilder is "He'd sell out this fight or that fight if it was in the UK." So he must not need to raise his profile too much. Right?

Yep, MR. A SIDE deserves to be frozen out .

He might get a real big profile boost if he ends up on the canvas in his next fight and wakes up without a belt. lol

The reality is the guys the dumbest Hw champ of all time not just the worst ,he needs to sidelined and Hearn should just target Fury even if wilder makes it past Breazeale . the games are up and expect another title defense struggle that comes down to a nail biter bc wilder slack of fundamentals are inching him closer to a loss.

The clown didn't want the fight then make him wait now , or collect it off someone else who takes it off him.
