Weak-chinned Trout was able to take Charlo's shots, but Williams got floored 3 times and stopped. I think Williams has a glass jaw.
The straight shot for the first KD was more of a balance issue- he was throwing a shot while that flush jab was coming right at him. That second KD was such an unusual way to drop someone- he nailed him with a counter uppercut. Usually that punch is a terrible one to throw in general as it leaves the fighter susceptible to getting counterpunched back (almost always,) but Jermall landed it somehow. Julian's defensive ability actually showed well for a good portion of that fight, he just got nailed with a rare type of countershot that would've dropped any JMW. Charlo is a big boy.
I mentioned when he got hit with that stiff jab, it was more of a balance issue as he got caught with it while trying to throw a punch himself. He also tried to get back up too quickly instead of taking the 8 count and attempting to get his legs back under him. The reason I don't think he's "chinny" is because Charlo landed a bunch of stiff jabs, strong left hooks and the occasional uppercut after that first KD and none of those shots rocked Williams. In fact, after that first KD, he was landing the more effective shots up until the 2nd KD. That 2nd KD though would've dropped any JMW. It was a terrific counterpunch by Jermall.
Not glass. I'd say his punch resistance isn't the best. Glass, he would have been laid out. He got up everytime. The last knockdown wasn't even really a knockdown, the punch landed on his glove, he was still on ***** street though so he went down again. People have to remember, Charlo is a power puncher. Charlo looked like he weighed about 15 pounds more than Williams in the ring, regardless of Showtime claiming he was 158 and the smaller of the two, and also that Charlo brought his A game. The Charlo from last night would have KO'd Trout as well. And as previously mentioned. Williams did eat some decent looking shots, with no problem. That uppercut was just perfecdtly placed, and Williams wasn't tucking his chin.
Yeah, he didn't really see it coming although it was right in his face. He was definitely hurt. His legs were jello when he got up. That's why I say his punch resistance isn't the best. He kept getting up though.
No. He was just too predictable. By the 2nd round Charlo had him figured out. The step up in class was too great.
He looks a bit chinny to me but it was a really nice shot that effectively finished him. Not sure how much Williams comes in on fight night but Charlo looks huge for the weight. The hairstyle might accentuate his size a bit but I thought he looked the bigger and stronger man in there and I think that really told in the end. I don't know what's going on here but surely this can't be accurate. https://s23.postimg.org/qywcz3grf/charlo.png
Williams seemed to be outboxing him, outside of the knockdowns. The step up in class, was likely a bit much. He really needed that Trout fight, or somebody similar first. To go from who he has fought to Charlo, isn't smart match making by his handlers.
What's going on there is Showtime covering for their new potential star. That fight night weight was likely 178, and changed by a producer, to hide the 20 pound weight difference. Charlo was taller, more muscular, his calves were wider, his torso was wider, there is no way Williams outweight him lol. The size difference looked significant. I'd say at least 15 pounds.
