Alvarez is by far the superior boxer. My only concern with this fight is, Alvarez can be out worked, he loses rounds to far worse fighters like hatton and gomez by being outworked.

Williams may still have it in him to not land the cleaner shots, but to out work Alvarez to a 12 round close decision. He throws 100+ punches a fight.

No doubt alvarez is the superior boxer at this stage in there career, but wiliams has a chance here.

    Thoughts?

Anything can happen in this fight, it's certainly not a gimme. Alvarez is still a 21 year old kid, however you look at it, and Williams still hits hard enough to command respect (unless you're Maravilla and love a good dust up).

It could be very true that Williams could school him, he could knock him out or outpoint him, its a risky fight and a great one for a 21 year old to take.

DOes he? yes. . . Can he actually utilize what he has in the fight, though? I doubt it. . .

Alvarez is too physically strong, and has way too much punching power for Williams. . . This could be another dangerous, awkward looking KO. . .

Lara didn't KO Paul and he is a better puncher. Williams will win this fight or be victim of a bogus decision but he got a gift before himself.

I can definitely see paul beating canelo, he will give him hell. Even the post sergio version is still dangerous vs non southpaws.

Several years ago I would have been fairly confident in williams but now I think he'll get beat. Should be an entertaining scrap though and a step up for Canelo. Its not beyond the realms of possibility that williams could have something left. Most thought it'd be more unlikely for Mosley to smash Margarito around at the time.

Place bet on it? Vcash and/or avatar?

I don't think Lara hits as hard as Canelo. . . He's got a decent little punch on him, but Alvarez drops that HAMMER with the left hook. . . ANd his straight right is mean too. I know people talk a lot of **** about him, but I think he's one of the "crisper", and "powerful" combination punchers. . . He doesn't get stupid/aggressive. . Just constantly chips away at you. . . And Williams doesn't fight tall at all - his chin will be there for Canelo to swipe all night. . . His BODY as well. .

The thing that's going for P Will is that he obviously isn't afraid to let his hands go and maybe, just maybe, sting Canelo up a bit. I hope power and not getting hit with counter straights is something P Will is working hard on.

Well if you think Williams is past it, you're goddamned dummy that doesn't know boxing

    Let me elaborate....

Williams is 41-0 vs. Orthodox fighters

His recent fights where he got KTFO and schooled?

    Martinez-Southpaw

    Lara-Southpaw

Paul actually has great defensive movements and good footwork....against righties. Granted Ishida isn't amazing by any means but he's no slouch either and will beat most of the best at 154

What happened again to Ishida? That's right Paul whipped that ass something serious.

Canelo is getting ****ed. Bet the farm

Williams UD but I wouldn't be surprised to see Canelo stopped.

The red-headed Mexicans bull**** hypetrain gets derailed soon!

    Williams has no defense.

Canelo can throw a punch while looking the other way and still land the punch.

People will be surprised at how easy this will be for Alvarez.

    Dont worry about them.

    They wont be necessary.

Canelo will make sure of it.

I wouldn't worry about the judges

That's one thing Paul has to his advantage in every fight.

His workrate is blinding. Blinding to judges. I thought he lost the first Martinez fight. And the Lara fight of course

So yea, the guy has won a few fights he had no business winning merely because of his high workrate.
