    punching power?

do you realize that a 40-year-old mosely threw more punches in rounds 11-12 than canelo?

do you realize that 40-year-old mosely threw more punches in rounds 9-12 against canelo than he did against both 147 paq and pbf?

looks to me that both 147 pbf and pac were both physically stronger than canelo in the championship rounds outworking mosely.

if you dont believe me, look it up.

Alvarez threw like 30 punches a round his last fight. And still looks easy to hit. Ill take my dude p dub in this one all day. Canelo might labd the harder punches but paul will land some nice shots a long with tremendous work will slow canelos already boring pace down.

    You are underestimating Paul Williams..

Williams has fought greater names.. Take a look at Williams-Margarito and Williams-Martinez I.. He fought them toe to toe and he took their best shots.. I don't know who else can fought those two toe to toe @154 and won't get knocked-out.. :deal Only Martinez's is brave enough and tough enough to lure him so that he can unleash a very powerful counter-attack (Williams-Martinez II).. I really doubt Alvarez have a punch as strong as Sergio's.. :nono

Alvarez on the other hand is still untested.. He doesn't have a good defense so he's sure to be hit also.. He doesn't have good mid-range boxing so he won't be able to out-box Williams.. We still don't know if he can take brutal punishments.. And he starts slow, while Williams is a volume puncher..

Paul Williams will win this one.. Hopefully he can have a unification fight with Floyd after Alvarez.. :bbb

Not a big problem for Canelo, PW has too many flaws. He doesn't use his height or reach, he throws too many worthless little shots and he thinks he's indestructible. This youngster's gonna' tap that ass and this will start the downfall of Paul Williams. I think he was a mismanaged fighter, being convinced he could just OUTFIGHT everybody. All that going up and down in weight has to take a toll. His trainers also leave a LOT to be desired, have you EVER seen him adjust during the course of a fight? PW has taken a lotta' shots and that **** will catch up to him.

Maybe Alvarez hits harder than Margarito but not too much.. But he can't beat Margarito's work rate.. :deal That means, Margarito is more deadly than Alvarez..

I'm not really sure if he is that kind of boxer.. Cotto is definitely better than him on mid-range not by a mile but enough to be out-boxed.. I never really gave Cotto (who has a better game inside and outside) a chance of beating Williams.. I don't think Alvarez can do better.. :smoke

I remember pre-Williams 2 and even before 1 I was saying Martinez is a decent puncher and I got laughed at.

That said this will be a great fight and Canelo doesn't have the advantages that the southpaws in Lara, Martinez, and Quintana had. He can't slack off either as Williams will be on him like a big girl on sweets.

Funny you still don't mention the Cintron fight...You know where Williams was getting tagged constantly, and was lucky that Cintron is a mental midget.

Williams won that fight because he was up on the cards. A few good shots by Cintron wasn't going to cut it.

Still doesnt stop the fact that Williams was looking like **** there...and that Canelo is much better than Cintron.

    Just sayin'.

    Somebody bet this ***.

Use your cute little cash or whatever it is that you guys bet on with each other on this site.

Put something on the line if you're so confident.

Canelo will be raising his hand in the end.

I think Paul might pull off a huge upset here.

Looking at Alvarez, he actually has gone the distance with his better comp and was gifted a stoppage against Gomez. Everyone is raving about his power, but the record actually seems to tell a different story. Sure, he is an explosive puncher, but he doesn't punch enough to stop B or greater level guys. Martinez stopped Paul but is Alvarez on Martenez' level? Not by a long shot.

Paul moves his hands. All day. He WILL be scoring. This is a given. So the fight is Paul's to lose and Alvarez' to win. If Paul gets past 6? I see Paul winning.

Williams has no defence, and worse now he has no chin. This is gonna end badly for Paul, which is why he's been given the fight. What has he done to earn this title shot!? He got dominated by Lara, then beat a feather fisted journeyman.

As a fan of Paul, I'd rather see him retire, but if he keeps going, they need to keep him away from any punchers.

Where does this "Paul has no chin" talk come from? He got knocked out by a shot that would have knocked anyone out and he took all of Lara's best punches and still kept coming forward.

He still has a chin and I expect Canelo to test it
