Interesting side note: It seems like a lot (most?) of the people who saw Hart's fight against Sandy Ferguson a year before the Johnson robbery felt that Hart only won that fight via a gift decision too. Ferguson apparently outclassed Hart, busted his face up a bit, and even dropped him and had him hurt at one point. The Arkansas crowd apparently booed and hissed the ref's decision.

 

Larry Gains regained the title from Obie Walker in1935 this was in the UK Gains never defended it and it lapsed once again.
Gains had previously won the title by dsq from George Godfrey in 1920.Gains did not defend it,and Godfrey claimed it .

N B Godfrey fought Bearcat Wright for the American Colored Title in1930 which obviously shows Double Chin's claims that you had to be a North American black to fight for the World Colored Title as total nonsense . Else why didn't they just fight for the World Colored title?
Anyway Godfrey and Wright drew .Godfrey as a previous holder ,then claimed the title
To solidify his clans to the World Colored crown Godfrey fought Seal Harris in1931.Ace Clark in 32 and Tiger Jack Fox in33 . All billed as for the title.
Obie Walker beat Godfrey in1933 to take the title ,then lost it in1935 to Gains who did not defend it.
So Larry gains was the last Colored Champ.1935
