Does Wlad care about mandatories now? The trinkets in general?

He has the Ring belt and will be recognized as the undisputed champ till he loses it in the ring, if that ever happens. Does he still really care about fighting Povetkin next time out? So what if he loses a few trinkets, or is it worth paying the sanctioning fees just to keep the belts out of the hands of false titlists who would receive undue credit and exposure thanks to political corruption?

if you've followed the Klits, you'd know the answer. Vitali spent months in arbitration!, of course they care. They care too much, obviously, but they care

He's looking to unify and has always said he wants to, all this Haye talk brought so much excitement that he had to jump on it despite telling Haye to build his self up so no one says he beat an unproven guy. He will continue doing what he is supposed to and that's fight mandatories or the best opponents available whilst making sure he's collecting/keeping all belts.

He should fight whoever the top contenders are the emerge. Haye, Povetkin, the winner of Chambers-Dimitrenko.

It is unfortunate that there are no truly awesome HW fighters right now. Another 3 years for Wlad though, another 7-10 fights, and even the most ardent haters wont have much of a case for reasoning why he isnt an ATG.

This isn't puro-resu. He's not going to toss his belts in the garbage like Scott Hall. :yep

He'll fight his mandos because what the hell else is going to prove? Short of unifying with Valuev (not really all that great an accomplishment) or Vitali (never going to happen), what potential superfights does he have to spurn the orgs for?

Corrie Sanders and Lamon Brewster ring a bell?

Unless they happened in a previous life they are all part of the resume

Having The Ring title isn't the same as being undisputed. Just like having The Ring isn't the same as establishing lineage in this instance. I'm happy enough for The Ring to recognise Wlad because he's clearly the best heavyweight in the world but his brother still has a strong claim making Wlad's lineal claim improper at this time.

The fight with Chagaev being for the Ring belt was really just a formality; he's been the consensus #1 for some time now.

Yes, but as a I keep saying, being consensus number one isn't the same as establishing new lineage. You understand that right?

ATG status that you're throwing out there. That's the point.

My hypothetical-8 years undefeated (he retires in 2012), 15-18 title fights in that time, 3 years as Ring Champion.

    That doesnt deserve ATG status?

Well Wlad has a choice, he can either fight Povetkin and keep the IBF belt, or fight the winner of Chambers-Dimitrenko and keep the WBO belt.
