Does Wlad care about mandatories now? The trinkets in general?

He doesn't have to choose one or the other. Povetkin (IBF Mand) is due by September) and Chambers/Dimi winner (WBO) will be due I believe by Jan or Feb 2010, which is totally feasable barring any major injury.:good

He will NOT be recognized as undisputed champion because he isnt. If he beats the 2nd ranked fighter and wins his WBC title he will be on his way to that but he refuses to fight him, just because he gets a free pass doesnt make him undisputed. Ring does not mean Undisputed or lineal.

    I think so, too.

Keeping the titles is what his *quest* is.

If he were to start letting them drift away, some fans would see things becoming very unclear, once again.

Me, I think he's beaten the best there out there, and he is clearly the man, now.......but you have to consider that holding the physical titles, all at once, is still his and Vitali's main goal.

Most of us see Wlad as the new WBA titleholder, but apparently he doesn't, cause he just said he wants Valeuv's WBA title. I think he already has it, but he apparently wants to officially get it.......:good

I don't understand people who seriously think lineage is important. :conf

If it is a reasonable, deserving contender... I am sure that Wlad would care. If they tried to pull some funky **** like making him fight Holyfield as a mandatory, I am sure that there would be a problem.

In the case of his next two mandatories (Povetkin, Chamber/Dimitrenko), he's fighting top 10 guys. So, sanctioning fees aside, the trinkets are not getting in the way that much.

IMO - The trinkets make him more marketable to fringe boxing fans, so the sanctioning fees are worth it for now.

Watch for Valuev to drop the belt but not take it being the fraud that he is.

Wladimir will just keep doing what he is, clean out the division whether it's mandatories or whatever. It's also safe to say that if someone who guarantees a big fight comes along Wladimir will take it immediately too just like he did with David Haye. Wladimir is here to bring us all the fights available.

It's massively important. The heavyweight title can be traced from Lennox Lewis all the way back to Floyd Patterson. If we're establishing new lineage it has to be done correctly. How can you not think that's more important that alphabet straps?

i dont think he would do it, but i wouldnt be suprised if he dumped the IBF belt they seem to be very strict about mandatories......lots of fighters drop some of their alpha titles once they get the ring belt...
