there's not many heavyweights with the leaping lead hook in their arsenal that I've seen besides Dempsey, and Ali. For those of you who don't know what a leaping lead hook is: it is when you feint to the body with a left uppercut, and switch it into a left hook. This is one of the hardest punches to use. I've never landed a shot like that in sparring, but do you guys think wlad has the best leaping lead hook?
No, quite a few HWs had better lead, step in hooks than Wlad. For a SHW, (size, height) it was pretty good.
That's what almost had Joshua out of there in round 5. Wlad moves so much better than plodding Joshua. Youth alone saved his ass.
Without a doubt!! His lead left hook is up there with the very best: Morrison, Tyson, Frazier.. It is fast, compact and delivered with perfect technique. He caught Joshua with one in round 5 I think, after the KD. It was partially blocked but still managed to turn the fight around completely for the next 5 rounds. Full credit to Joshua and his team to take that away, they must have studied Wlad religiously. So yes, his lead left hook is a thing of beauty, very welterweight like.
Frazier was probably the best at that at least at hw, I always liked old Foreman's walking uppercut thingy.
Vlad has the best left hook in boxing, watch Vlad Vs. Shufford, the shortest left hook I have even seen. Vlad rarely used a leaping left, never needed to............
It's a VERY good weapon. Go to 9:45 in the below clip. The lead left hook that he drops iron chinned Mercer with is one of the hardest and quickest you'll see. This content is protected
