Punching power is actually a very hard thing to quantify. Wlad certainly hits hard but the hardest ever? Probably not. Shavers' right hand is probably the hardest punch ever thrown in a ring though there are many other massive hitters. Wlad is an all time great puncher for certain but biggest one punch KO power ever? Nah. Certainly up there on any list of hardest punchers though with big hitters like Tyson, Foreman, Liston, Cooney, Shavers, Baer and Lewis. I'd put him higher on atg greatest punchers list though.

Arguing over who hits harder than whom at the top level gets pretty pointless after a while, and is ultimately impossible to prove. If you have the ability to put someone's lights out with one or two punches then you're a puncher period. Doesn't matter if you put them down for a ten count or a twenty count, or if so-and-so said so-and-so punched harder than you (Shavers's entire argument for ever being included in discussions like these), if you hit them and they fall down and don't get up then minutiae like the above really don't have much relevance to the discussion.

Mike modelled a lot of his style and look on Dempsey, but skill-wise and physique-wise he was undeniably his superior. Not only was he the naturally bigger man, he was leagues stronger, more athletic and more coordinated as well. Watching Dempsey wail away on Willard was one of the most disappointing experiences I've ever had as a boxing fan, and taught me a sharp lesson in ever listening to what old-school fans have to say about a fighter's abilities, or indeed what any fan has to say, without viewing the footage myself. Anyone throwing combos like Dempsey in today's day and age would be laughed out the ring, or at the very least seen as extremely amateurish.

Smaller fighters do have the potential to hit really damn hard at heavyweight level: Hide, Haye and Satterfield attest to that. But they need to throw in a totally different way from larger fighters to make up for the lack of bodymass, physical strength and (in many cases) smaller bone structure. Basically they need to explosively launch themselves at their opponents and really put everything behind the shot with no thought of any return fire. Bigger fighters have the luxury of being able to hold back and still do damage.

This is very true. And why Haye is always off balance after he throws his big right hand. Foreman on the other hand threw arm punches and still knocked you out because each of his arms weighed about 20lbs and had bones about 2 inches in diameter in them.

    No Im sorry

the fight was in the 12th round

a "single shot" did not do it

he was losing took punches all night naturally tired at that stage, a "single shot" KTFo of a fresh man is something Wlad cannot seem to do at championship level

as for thompson the man was not unconscious, because he certainly knows how to land when asleep

    lol

Brewster said that something was wrong with Helenius gloves because they do not show it.

Wlad has much more power than Helenius. He is one of the haredest punchers of all the time.

It wasn't the unorthodoxy but the crudeness I was referring to. Someone like Nicolino Locche was as unorthodox as they come and would still clown major ass today. Dempsey most certainly would not, not if he was still eligible to fight in the HW division. Dempsey just had horrendous technique for a fighter who's considered a great puncher and H2H great. A great innovator in his time though.

I hear Helenius uses mexican style gloves, the give him some added ko power but also result in him breaking his arm all the time.

Wlad is one of the hardest hitters ever, not the hardest though.
Granted he has hurt and knocked out some people with one
shot, however most of his stoppages took several or more
flush right hands ala Brock. Left hook knocked out Chambers
unconcious with one shot. Couldnt stop Peter or Brewster 1,
bloodied Brewster bad in rematch. Agreed no way of telling
unless we have a Rocky 4 PSI machine. Props to Wlad, very
powerful jab, right cross/straight, and left hook. I believe
other people hit harder though, Foreman, Tyson, Hooks
uppercuts and rights. Bowe uppercut prob equal. I sure
as hell would not wanna be on the reciecing end. I always
thought Lewis's cross was more powerful till Manny stated
    otherwise

Abdusalamov has the greatest one-punch power in boxing P4P in ANY weight class.
