So how did Sam Peter manage to put Wlad on the canvas THREE times?

He wasn't even down against Purrity. He was just in no shape to go twelve and he gassed Out.

Wladimir does not have a glass chin. Some of the knock downs in the Peter fights were helped by shoves/elbows. Sanders did hit like a mule and Wladimir was never out. Sanders was avoided because of his power. Look at the fight he had with Vitali and listen to Vitali's comments afterwards. Of course, Vitali won that fight. An aside, props to the toughness and spirit of Sanders. Early on in Wladimir's career he ran out of gas against Purity, simple. That does not mean a glass chin. In the Brewster fight something did happen unconnected to chins. People, and they won't , need to some research on that one. Remember the second fight, Brewster quit on his stool. There is no glass chin here.

thought sanders was avoided because rahman knocked him clean out to take him of contention.

so wald was the one who was brave enough to face sanders was he? when he was afged 37 shot2shyteretired? and still got destroyed in seconds.

The fight didn't even go TWO rounds. Sanders would have done permanent damage to Wlad had the ref allowed the fight to continue.
The whole "Wlad was never out" argument is beyond ridiculous. Wlad was unable to continue, therefore he was OUT. Period, end of...

This is one of those rare cases where exceptional defensive skills (compounded with the state of the current heavyweight division) overrides Chin Math.

Wladimir became the hardest man to hit in the sport over the past 9 or 10 years. The opponents he's beating simply can't get any offense going because of his effective defensive strategies and tactics. Wladimir always had the offense to keep fighters wary, but his ability to nullify ANY chances of them landing solid shots in return is vastly overlooked now.

There are the very rare cases where he's touched by a solid jab or a glancing right hand these days, but he simply doesn't get hit with many solid shots, regardless of his opponents. His defense, and uncanny ability to neutralize incoming punches by ANY means necessary, is something every potential opponent of his has to be wary of. It's also something every fan of the sport should acknowledge.

Haye fought at HW weighing much the same as prime Foreman and around the same height.

Maskaev chin is pure china, he has been knocked out 7 times, including 5 times before he became the heavyweight champ! No idea how anyone can argue otherwise. Rahman, well, his chin is probably around the same level as Wlad, not china, but vulnerable to a clean punch from a good heavyweight. And with regards to Haye and Roy Jones Jr - the poster said he has the weakest chin of any heavyweight champ in history and last time I checked Jones Jr and Haye both help heavyweight belts.

Exactly. I'd add that it was fair to say he had chin problems earlier on. He's clearly got them worked out. A lot of HW's grow into their chin over time.

He set an effing record, you don't get that by defense alone. He's got a good chin, at least, maybe a very good chin.

It's also funny, people opinions of him crystalized earlier in his career, and nothing he can do now can change people's opinions, they are impervious to facts. Its kind of like Tyson in reverse. He showed a good chin earlier on, that's what people came to associate him with, so even though he got kd'd and ko'd a lot later on, people refused to look at evidence and refused to see him as having anything other than a great chin.
