**** no. Chagaev doesn't even have a belt. He's merely a contender.

undisputed? no. but's it a good sized step in that direction if he wins. once vitali retires, the path opens up.

what it does in the immediate term is reaffirm him as the #1hw and perhaps unify 3 of the 4 belts pending what the WBA rules.

Having two brothers at the top is good for their fans, but it comes at a cost.

That being that one has to be out of the picture for the other to be Heavyweight Champion of The World.

He is already THE heavyweight champion, anyone that counts Valuev as a champion is better off following circus shows.

Your prejudice against Valuev is appalling and akin to mocking those with severe deformities. That stuff belongs in the lounge.

Do not confuse his physical stature with his shortcomings at the Elite level of boxing.

“THE RING magazine will recognize the upcoming bout between Wladimir Klitschko and Ruslan Chagaev as being for the vacant RING heavyweight championship of the world,” Collins said. “Usually, we require a match between the No. 1 and No. 2 contenders to fill a vacancy. But in certain circumstances, we will recognize a match between No. 1 and No. 3, and this is one of those circumstances.

“Wladimir is THE RING’s No. 1 heavyweight contender, and his participation is mandatory,

Agreed. They are cheapening the title that means the most, just in a rush to fill a vacancy.

err,, sorry to feel like a parrot but unless he's undisputed why would he become THE heavyweight champ? And if your asking about what it takes to become THE heavyweight champ why mention beating chagaev rather than his brother vitali?
