Beating Haye would do very little for Wlad's record. Just another win and in this case, another major belt.

I don't understand why people claim beating Haye would mean make or break for Wlad's legacy? Haye's HW record is paper thin just like many other contenders. Beating him means absolutely nothing in historic terms, especially when you consider Haye wants to retire right after the fight, further diluting the value of his own scalp.

beating haye doesnt MAKE OR BREAK his career. but say what you want about haye, wlad will be given more credit for beating haye than anyone else in the world, or of wlads last 10 opponents!

Haye is young, athletic, confident and is a champ. Wlad beating haye would do a lot for wlad's career. He wants to go down as an ATG.

Haye on the other hand doesnt care about being a great. so he doesnt need wlad to fulfill his goal

The problem is that Haye will earn far more from fighting Chagaev, than Wlad will from fighting any HW out there. Haye has a following that will pay PPV and Wlad doesn't generate the cash.

If it's about money, then they both need eachother.
If it's about legacy, then there is no comparison... Haye needs Wlad way more in that account than the other way round.

Haye is fighting for legacy, not for the money (his words)!

I don't wanna step on any toes, but, i think wlad needs haye. Wlad needs haye to solidify his legacy. That's my opinion on that. Haye is his toughest opponent since sanders. Why he never fought sanders again, beats me. But, a win against haye will rectify that

yep. thats whats SOO ANNOYING about most of these dumbass klit fans!

As boxing fans, first and foremost we want to see the biggest fights happen! not the klit fans. they are more concerned for wlads safety and wallet! With these nuthuggers they are incapable of having a decent unbiased discussion about anything concerning wlad. its soo infuriating.

I was all over haye when the fight didnt happen the first time. but this time i honestly dont think haye is in the wrong!

You know the problem with this theory is that Haye wants to retire right after fighting Wlad. That largely takes away any historic significance for Wlad winning a fight with him.

Two scenarios (hypothetically let's say Wlad wins -- just for the sake of argument):

    1. Wlad wins and Haye takes a break, then comes back in 1-2 years, becomes mandatory and wins some ABC belt and strings together another 5-6 title defenses against top 10 contenders. That would give Wlad's win over Haye some weight. Then Wlad could say "Look I beat that guy when he was in his prime".

    *OR*

    2. Wlad windows and Haye retires, never coming back. Then what good was Wlad's win? It would be on the same level as winning over many other contenders or belt holders. There'd be little that sets the win over Haye apart from many other wins in Wlad's record.

This is why Lennox' win over Vitali is so precious for his record. He not only beat big names once they were past his best, but he demolished a young up'n comer and continued to become the #1 for a while *AFTER* Lennox ripped his face off. Lennox win would be much less significant had Vitali retired right after the fight.

Having read pretty much all the Klitschko/Haye threads, one thing you always notice is that the people who support Haye, are on ESB all year round, talking about guys like Gamboa, Donaire, Ward, Froch, Martinez, Pacquiao etc.. The Klitschko fans disappear for 3/4 of the year, only popping up whenever a Klitschko fight is on or some abusrdly biased, fat, bearded American "journalist" :)lol:) decides to verbally wank them off.

    Hmm good point.

the thing is though, david haye as of right now is very much an enigma in the heavyweight division. Hes a bit of an unknown quantity. that could in a way count against wladimir.

one thing most agree on though is that these years are wlad's peak years. and over the last 2/3 years haye is clearly the most dangerous heavyweight out there. the reason being, everyone agrees he has power and everyone agrees he has speed. and speed and power is Wlad's kryptonite!

unfortunately for wlad, those 3 ko losses dont help. if the fight never takes place, he leaves himself open to too many question marks regarding his peak years. In an already weak heavyweight division i think its crucial wlad wipes haye out, for his legacy!

If there were 2/3 other genuine dangerous heavyweights out there then this wouldnt be a problem. but given this is already a pretty weak era, a win over haye i think is very important for wlad

why leave yourself open to potential question marks in the future? just take care of business and beat haye (which he is heavy favourite to do so if the fight happens). beating haye leaves literally no questions over wlads peak years

The Klits have been droning on about unifying the belts for years.......Wlad had the chance to do it with ALL HIS CRAZY DEMANDS MET and he has turned to a quivering jelly.
