:good ...unless people are intimating that Banks gave him too many BJ's in the locker room before the ring walks and left him too drained to punch, there is no way to pin it on Jhonathan. :deal
Yeah, ditch training altogether to try his hand at contending again? Banks in the Mitchell rematch was maybe a more potent h2h force than Wlad against Fury. :!:
If I was Banks and after giving Wlad all those mathetmatical equations in the corner, that was what he put out. He doesn't need me and he's not worth my time. Move on to train some other fighters.
No trainer can at this stage: - learn to cut off the ring - learn a boxer how to fight on the inside - implant a heart with courage and killer instinct into a scared boxer - grow a pair of ballz to a man Even Steward in all his years couldn't get Klitschko to "fight" (after instilling the jab-grab-lean-tactic) despite all his yelling in the corner. These stuff have to be done at amateur level...
To be fair, Steward never wanted Klitschko to "fight". That was calculated. He knew that brawling was always going to end in tears for Wlad; that's why he cooked up the brawl-prevention style that saw him do so well for years.
Thing is vs. a guy with a light punch like Fury, Wlad can and should have taken risks. Actually they Should have had a plan B that if - God forbid! - Wlad was down by points towards round 5-6 Wlad would switch strategy and takes more risks, increases punch output.
Sky had no audio in the corners, what did Banks say during the rounds? Was there any sense of urgency in his voice as the fight slipped away?
pointless at this stage. All he needs to do is throw more punches. Fury had a very low output also it isn't like Fury was doing much more than Wlad. It was an awful fight.
That's not true. Steward wanted to lay a safe foundation with the jab-grab-lean as a starting point and once that instilled some confidence in his fighter, he wanted him to be more aggressive. There were later on quite some fights were Steward in the corner was urging Klitschko that he has to be more aggressive and take his man down. But Klitschko found his comfortable safe haven and couldn't further evolve beyond that (and it wasn't needed as nobody in the division was skilled enough)...until he got exposed
I disagree. From my understanding, even when imploring Klitschko to be aggressive, he always wanted him to do so carefully and sticking to script with the 1-2. He never, ever wanted him going for broke and rumbling, as he knew it would lead to Purritty/Sanders/Brewster all over again.
I know that he told him he needed a knockout to win going out for the last round, I am not sure what he was saying before that.
Banks is assistant trainer along with James Ali Bashir. Bashir is cut from the same cloth as Steward. A Kronk gym veteran with 40 years experience. He trains Usak , who would probably beat Fury according to some of the people who picked Wlad to win. Bashir said from the beginning that they were taking Fury very , very seriously and he thought it was a 50/50 fight. [YT]AbEL_kQNZUE[/YT] Manny had a great eye for potential. One of the best. Would he have advised Wlad to drop a belt like Lewis did.
