I'm not positive but could it be Arreola or Dimetrenko next if he beats Pulev? More likely Arreola...I too hope it's not Thompson. I think The Tiger is a pretty good heavyweight, but I agree we don't have to see the above again.

Let's hope not. That fight had no mystery to it. It was pretty clear from beginning to end. I will be busy organizing my closet if that fight happens.

Much like Ray Austin hung around for like 2 years as, allegedly, the #1 contender out there, I'm just hoping no-one notices.

Another couple months without fighting and Thompson will probably lose his ranking anyway.

 

The division is poor but there are better fights than that.

 

Unfortunately he's the IBF mandatory. If the fight between Chambers and Thompson had of come off at least it would have been a worthy title challenge from the winner. When Chambers pulled out they really ****ed up by not replacing him with the next highly ranked fighter.

 

Wlad has to face Thompson again and its probably his next fight. The better scenario would have had Wlad facing Thompson this Saturday and totally scrapping the Mormeck bout, now he has to face Mormeck and Thompson. Thats not a great 2012 Wlad is lining up, and with Wlad's habit of injuries lately there's no gaurantee he will be fighting 3 times this year so Mormeck and Thompson could be as good as it gets for Wlad this year.

When Wlad faced Thompson the first time Thompson was a legit top 10 contneder who had been on a nice run, not a great defense for Wlad but a solid one. Now, Thompson is 40+ and will have been off for over a year by the time they fight, I don't know if this version of Thompson is still a top 10 fighter.

A Thompson rematch won't be the incredible mismatch that the Mormeck fight is but its still a fight nobody, other than Thompson, wants to see again. Wlad won comfortably last time and this version of Thompson will be older and rustier.

 

I dont get why wlad went with mormeck, nobody cares about that fight it will be an easy win, he should have used this time to get rid of his mandatory.
