I don't follow women's boxing. But I think the best don't avoid the best like in men's boxing (Usyk-Fury. Fury-AJ, Wilder-AJ, Bivol-Beterbiev, Crawford-Spence...). That's why I think women's boxing deserves more respect.
In some ways yes, and in some ways no. The same is true for all "women's" sports. The sacrifice, dedication, and effort required to do what they do is often not appreciated as it should be. At the same time, the expectation that people should care more about something when the male version is a higher level of sport across the board is ridiculous.
No. Pummeling each other's heads is controversial enough for men, and if you want to say there's no difference - there is, period. Of course, if women want to do it, who am I to deny them that, but I don't respect it. All this not even mentioning how much worse they are at it, how much less fun it is to watch because of it.
The women deserve respect for putting themselves out there and going through what it takes to be a professional boxer. That being said, for the most part, they do not deserve our interest and attention. There are, of course, exceptions. A small percentage of the women are talented and their fights are interesting and, occasionally, exciting. However, the overall skill level of the majority is still pretty appalling and can make the fights difficult to watch.
What would make you respect your wife/wives/girlfriend/girlfriends/side pieces more?:- 1. She learns how to take and deliver a boxing punch to the face. Or 2. She learns how to make a better sandwich.
I understand qualms about the talent level and pool, but when women's boxing is on its A-Game, it's something special. There's some classic fights (Taylor/Serrano, Bridges/Courtneay, Taylor/Persoon I, Mayer/Hamadouche, etc.) that people have no idea about because they either don't follow the women's side of boxing or just flatout refuse to watch it. I think women's boxing definitely deserves more respect and attention than it gets (you can say that all most women's sports, really).
Do you guys have anything better to do than type sexist comments about women like sandwiches and thongs? That's sad as y'all can do better. Give some respect to women's boxing as the heavily demanded superfights actually get made like Taylor-Serrano and Shields-Marshall (about to happen). And meanwhile male superfights like Crawford-Spence and Beterbiev-Bivol are still not happening yet. Also heavyweight superfights like AJ-Wilder and Fury-Joshua will never happen in the foreseeable future.
