Doesn't Povetkin have to be ranked higher than the likes of Wilder, Fury, Ruiz etc?

Povetkin's top wins are as follows:
    1. Chagaev
    2. Chambers
    3. Perez

The rest is filler and unranked fighters.

He knows his level and fights guys beneath it unless it's a title shot.

Cedric Boswell (Undefeated Contender), Carlos Takam, Manuel Charr (Coming off WBC Title Shot)...

Boswell never fought again after he was destroyed in Mother Russia by Sasha Povetkin!!

He’s been caught on PEDs twice. So I consider a lot of his wins suspect. The change in his body after the second fail (and pre-Klitschko) is pretty telling.

Plus he got completely outclassed in his two title fights. He showed his ceiling.

A lot of his wins are over more B-level guys — Charr and Duhaupas (on like 2 days notice, with PEDs still in his system and Duhaupas had to borrow shoes because he didn’t have time to pack any lol) and Hammer and Wach and Price and Rudenko aren’t exactly murderers row. If Wilder or AJ fought all of those guys in succession and you asked this board about their great resume, you’d get predictable answers. They’re not bad but they’re all people you knew he’d beat.

When he held a title (of sorts, the WBA regular), his defenses were against a old-and-well-past-it Hasim Rahman, Andrzej the Walrus (or whatever his name is), life-and-death with Huck (a cruiser), etc. That was a platform to say ‘I am elite’ and he and his team lined up the rock-bottom-est list of fighters they could find.

Quite frankly, I don’t see his resume as that impressive at all.

In 2008 they had a Heavyweight Boxing Tournament to find a challenger for Waldo Klitschko... it was Calvin Brock, Chris Byrd, Eddie Chambers and Sasha Povetkin the only non-american in the batch... Povetkin won the Tournament but didn't get his shot at Waldo for 5 years!!

His team, which was headed by Teddy Atlas, didn't want the shot.

Well, Iggy, Chagaev, Povetkin and Boytsov were all at about the same level and Povetkin is the only one with real longevity.

I remember 2008 well... Eddie Chambers was a God on ESB postings until he lost to Povetkin...
I also have HBO Round Table Boxing Experts on dvd from 2006 saying Chris Byrd was the most skilled elite and true Heavyweight Champion right before Klitschko knocked him out AGAIN for second time... it shows how the "Experts" will judge someone as "Elite", "Top Rated", "The True Heavyweight Champion" then sweep them under the carpet after they get Knocked Out and never mentioned they were wrong...
They (Boxing Experts) were saying the same thing about Eddie Chambers, Calvin Brock, Cedric Boswell, Mike Perez, etc...

I googled it, Povetkin made almost 6 million $$$ U.S. for the Klitschko fight and 7.2 million $$$ for the Joshua fight, he should be able to retire, that $$$ should go a long way in Mother Russia!!

I also saw that Povetkin had a big $$$ deal to fight Stiverne but Stiverne failed a test for Roids and the fight was cancelled... the same way the Wilder fight $$$ fell through when Povetkin failed his test...

Most of these guys are Roided like Joshua ... just some are better than others at getting away with it...

Povetkin v. Stiverne was cancelled because Povetkin failed a test. Stiverne failed a test at some point, but the fight was allowed to go on.

Did I just point out that fighters tend to drop off in quality in the last couple of fights in their career?

    Yes.

    Whooosh.
