Michael Dokes Smokin Bert Cooper Alex Stewart Larry Holmes. All faced Holyfield at some point and had varying degrees of success But all four against each other in a little tournament, how's it play out.? All are the version s that faced Holyfield.
You know, that never crossed my mind, but very sadly true. As for the thread, Cooper beats Stewart in a mad crazy brawl by ko. Dokes put up a great, turn the years back, display against Holyfield. And Holmes was well past prime here, but I'm giving it to Larry on points, in a brutal tough one. Holmes wins against Bert, but may find himself rocked along the way. Holmes by ko round 10.
Round robin using the versions that fought Holy: Holmes 3-0 Dokes 2-1 (loss to Holmes) Stewart 1-2 (losses to Holmes and Dokes) Cooper 0-3 (gasses out every time)
Cool thread. I love all 4 guys. Cooper and Stewart would probably both make my top 10 favorite Heavyweights of all time list. Sort of the “almost” guys. They could push the greats, but couldn’t really close the deal and win the big ones. I think Cooper is much more dangerous for others in a general head to head type matchup consensus than Stewart is, but I think Alex could beat him. Alex was bigger and though less of a puncher than Cooper he was a better boxer and usually in better condition. And when he was stopped it was usually only because he was prone to be cut and bleed. With the exception of when he Froze against Tyson. He won’t freeze against Bert and unless Bert busts him up I think Alex will take a decision here. Sadly I think Bert would go 0-3 being outboxed by Dokes and Holmes. Stewart would also lose to Dokes and Holmes on either a cut tko or A Decision. So now it’s old Holmes and a turn back the clock Dokes. Wow thinking about this one is quite intriguing. An interesting clash of styles. Dokes has much faster hands and has a great gas tank since we are using the version that fought Evander. Wow, The old man version of Larry liked to lay back, set traps and blast you with the jab and right cross. Larry is so smart and tricky and crafty that he probably figures Dokes out, but I’m going to go against the grain and going to say this Dokes outworks and out speeds and out points this older slower Version of Holmes.
