    Open to dabate? Go ahead and name the bouts where the King fighter was not the benefiaciary of any sort of controversy against a rival promotion. You can do it on 2 thumbs and statiscally, it should be a 50-50 thing.

    I think you're giving too much credit to Don King on this one. I think it was more in relation to the aftermath of Kim/Mancini than anything else.

    The 1983 rematch between "Dokes & Weaver" in Vegas is a great WBA heavyweight title bout of the 80s that is often overlooked on the "Classic" level of title fights.... Why? Because it is not considered lineal / linear....... Larry Holmes was the true WBC heavyweight champion at that juncture...... Christ, later on that night in Vegas Holmes fought and struggled with a motivated Tim Witherspoon...... A damn good Don King event happened in Vegas in 1983..... Cheers..... OH!!! On the undercard Greg Page gave Renaldo Snipes a lesson in boxing..... May 20, 1983.... This was early PPV stuff at the time....
