I don't think it is that far fetched. If Sky wanted to make it happen I think they could

Sky arn't interested in that side of it at domestic level, I get the impression they are just quite happy filling air time rather than getting into the "politics" of British boxing.

On one level, I don't blame them. Its a real can of worms to open for a TV Exec.

8 man tournament but all 4 quarter finals would be on the same night. Which might sound stupid at first, but what if it was on ppv?

I mean if you had something like

    Chisora v Rogan

    Sexton v Price

    Audley v McDermott

    Fury v Sprott

on the same night, would you buy that **** on ppv for say £7.99? I would consider it.

I actually think it is a great idea with Saturday boxing to have something like a tournament that makes sense to the man on the street.

No but they are easy to sell and if you say to the average football fan after the game we are having an 8 man tournament to find the best heavyweight in Britain I think they'd be interested.

EDIT: PPV would be a bad idea

Exactly the their the only company showing domestic boxing they can dictate their own terms , If their going to start showing boxing at 9pm on a saturday which is essentially primetime then they should demand better than mismatches , dodgy stoppages and fighter quitting on their stools while ahead .

not a worthwhile ppv, split it over a few week.

4 man elimination. do it in each division not including a single fighter that could fight for a world title in the next year.

    Chisora-Sexton-Rogan-Fury
    Nortan-Dolan-Askin-Dickinson
    Bellew-Mcintosh-McEnzie-Dodson
    Anderson-Quigley-DeGale-Groves
    Murray-McEwan-Samuels-Saunders
    Webb-Aaron-Hall-Small
    Vassell-Hatton-Watson-Jennings (all manchester)
    Daws-O'Donnell-Wright-Gavin
    McAllister-Limond-Watson-Arthur
    Skykes-Morris-Foster-Johanesson
    Lindsay-Simson-Smith-Choi
    Quigg-Marsh-Hughes-Arthur
    McDonnell-Hall-Davies-Napa
    Broadhurst-Sexton-Edwards-Bayaar

Have the two elimination fights on the same card so people get a look at the fighters involved and get people excited .

not sure if you could do it due to different promoters.

    Chisora-Sexton-Rogan-Fury (Warren)
    Nortan-Dolan-Askin-Dickinson (Hattons)
    Bellew-Mcintosh-McEnzie-Dodson
    Anderson-Quigley-DeGale-Groves
    Murray-McEwan-Samuels-Saunders
    Webb-Aaron-Hall-Small (Hattons)
    Vassell-Hatton-Watson-Jennings (Hattons)
    Daws-O'Donnell-Wright-Gavin (Hennesey)
    McAllister-Limond-Watson-Arthur
    Skykes-Morris-Foster-Johanesson (Maloney/Hattons)
    Lindsay-Simson-Smith-Choi (Warren)
    Quigg-Marsh-Hughes-Arthur (Maloney)
    McDonnell-Hall-Davies-Napa (Maloney)
    Broadhurst-Sexton-Edwards-Bayaar (Maloney)

simply get the promoters listed to do the fights they can make with there own guys, and out the rest to pruse bids.
