Maybe it's poor word choice but I stand by my point. Vitali took 4 years off. He was last seen as the lineal champ 6 years ago. He has spend the last two years ranked behind his brother. It is not a decade of dominance.

Wlad spent the first 3 years of the decade as a joke who was never expected to get this far.he only really underlined his true credentials when he knocked out byrd in a performance he still hasn't bettered imo, although he hasn't took a fight personally since.

Stats should be used carefully as a way of boxing trivia.

Which brothers held a heavyweight title.

It truly doesn't signify dominance any more so than comparing hopkins with sturm. You can compare lots of pairs to make resume's look better. Calzaghe and bute have dominated the supermiddleweights for the last 16 years.

As I said the fact they are brothers should be used as trivia, not a mark of dominance.

Yeah, it's incorrect to say that they -the two of them- have dominated the whole decade.

You could say both have dominated the HW division, in a irregular way, since 2003 (eight years, not bad).

And you could also say that Wlad has dominated the division since 2006 (a little more than guys like Marciano, Patterson, Tyson, Lewis, Jeffries, etc).

Which decade was that? Wlad has dominated for about half a decade in a very weak division. Why are the two brothers combined as one fighter by their fans? This is idiotic.

It depends how you class dominance really, since 06 wlad has been seen as the best heavyweight. But he only really proved it by beating iggy and chagaev. He will underline it if he beats haye.

So there is a valid argument he has only dominated two years. Which is still very impressive.

beating Haye wouldn't add that much to Wladimirs Legacy at the moment
If Wladimir knocks him out then i don't think it stands out more in the future than his victories against Thompson, Chagaev, Ibragimov, or the first fight against Peter.

They're both pretty decent boxers on a historic level. If both can avoid getting knocked out by unheralded nobodies in the ring from here on then both brothers will be talked about favorably in decades from hereon.

Remember folks Lennox was hated by much of the boxing fanbase while he was active, heck he was booed during his walk-in to the Vitali fight. After fighters retire we usually view them more positively, forgetting the blemishes on their records.

A decade sounds right to me, wlad held the WBO in 2000 till 2003, DOMINATING who ever he fought, got a little lazy one fight, an payed, just at that time Vitali came to fight lewis, sending him in to retirement, an taking over as the new dog on the block, putting the same fear into boxers he put into lennox, then, vitali got injured in 2005, needed 4 years to recover, just then Wlad the Underdog, fought the #2 guy in the division just behind his brother, giving a boxing clinic for 9 out of 12 rounds, ending all debate with vitali retirment as who was the best

Yes, no question, Dominating a Decade

Scary part is, Wlad could do the same in this decade, I mean, sence 2005, with the peters scare, you could argue, he has yet to lose a round, 10 more years wouldn't be out of realm for a guy who stays in this well of shape, an boxes this greatly, look at hopkins, or his brother vitali

Statistics are one thing, but not the whole picture. First both Klit brothers record in title fights dosent quite connote the true value of each respective title they held at the time.

WBO especially around 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004 etc was not considered a world title.

The inflation of the titles into 4 separate versions takes away the image of domination as really to be dominate in the true sense of the word, then you need to have been number 1....without any dispute. Hence why we call it undisputed heavyweight champion when a fighter has all the belts.

The two lineal wins that you pointed out were against Briggs and Rahman which in the grand scheme of things are/were average world title fighters. Add to the fact that they were both 38 and 36 respectively at the time of the fights and around 12 years and 4 years past there very best then those stats start to look redundant.

They have been without doubt the best fighters since Lennox Lewis retirement, and the new era has only just begun....Vitali could be gone within a year...but Vlad if motivated and still in shape could operate for another 4 or 5 years.

It wasnt officially given but Sanders floored Vitali. If the ref had any sense at the time he would have given it.

Well thats self deafting now isnt it?

If David Haye having 26 fights is nothing compared to Vitali 41 or 42 cant quite remember then surely we cant count Joe Louis, Foreman, Ali, Holmes who all had 60 plus fights each.

Vitali was never seen as the lineal champion,..........to be lineal you need to beat the man who is lineal which was Lennox Lewis or if that figther retires then unify the division which Vitali has not done.

Also Vitali opponents since Arreola have been poor, Johnson, Sosnowski, and Briggs.

"Floored" is quite an exaggeration. He stumbled for half a second and never really went down.

They were as good as any of Joe Louis's "Bum of the Month" opponents during his reign as champion. (No knock on Louis)
