Of course. He rather fights Breazeale for $1 million than fight Whyte in the UK for $4 million. Wilder is so pathologically risk-averse that it's getting ridiculous.

Wilder is going to clean the division from former football players, I see.

Breazeale is more dangerous opponent than Whyte. He hits much harder and is taller than Whyte. Both have low skill level though.

It's actually a fight I wouldn't mind seeing. I prefer it as a fight to Dillian Whyte.

I think Breazeale is on the upswing & has improved his game since his tilt at Joshua.

He has that experience, plus the high intensity, fun-to-watch fight with Izu, plus he gets another chance at a decent win this weekend.

In short, he's liver than Stiverne. In fact, he's liver (if that's a word used in the context I'm using it) than just about anyone Wilder has fought before.

We also know he can take punishment & keep going.

Breazeale could spell trouble for Wilder.

Breazeale is a bigger puncher than whyte, if he could work on his stamina I would say he’s just as tough a fight as whyte.

So then why is Deontay negative on Whyte! I too believe Whyte is no match for Deontay, yet Deontay is scared like crazy to box in the UK although the purse is 3-4 time bigger than vs. Breazeale!

Whyte will land two jabs and the UK ref will step in and stop the fight. I wouldn't wanna fight there either.

Are you sure Whyte is better than Breazeale?

Because the British promoter wanted options on Wilder’s future defenses in exchange for that big purse ... giving AJ’s promoter the power to set terms for both sides for unification. It’s a grab by the Brit promoter to overpay for one fight so he can underpay for unification (and make more money for himself in the long run at Wilder’s expense) and, more importantly, have a huge say (as the guy representing BOTH fighters) in minimizing VADA terms for the unification to protect AJ.

    It’s a scam.

Wilder’s team called him out on it a couple of weeks ago: IF he takes a Whyte defense, is he GUARANTEED that he would get AJ next? (Being that’s the supposed reason for making a Wilder-Whyte fight, it’s a fair stipulation.) And the Brit promoter’s response was “UM, ERRRR, WELLLL, it doesn’t work that way ... cough ... cough.” If the answer to that wasn’t “OF COURSE, ABSOLUTELY HE FIGHTS AJ NEXT!!!” ... what’s the point of (a) fighting Whyte in the land of “Brit stoppages” and risk being sabotaged? (b) giving the Brit promoter options on Wilder’s future?

Short money always has long consequences.

If they offer Wilder a Whyte defense at that purse with (a) no options and (b) a written guarantee of a unification with AJ as the immediate, next fight, then Wilder will take it. They’ve said so publicly. And if they don’t, they should be righty criticized.

But did you see Whyte’s last fight? Or his fight with Chisora? WTF makes him a worthy challenger? If he’s such a big deal, why isn’t AJ fighting him again?

    "Breazeale... is taller than Whyte."

...we're playing "pick out one true statement from this post", right?

Hey, it'd be one of his most notable victories...

He truly needs to fight Joshua, Parker, Povetkin, or Ortiz next. The last two won't/can't happen which sucks. But as the months and years pass, Wilder looks quite the joke.
