HW hopefuls Dominic Breazeale, Gerald Washington, Skipp Scott, and Luis Ortiz are fighting on April 3..... HW division really heating up with great matchups. Breazeale is obviously the real deal, and is moving nicely. He's fighting Nagy Aguilera in a scheduled 8rdr. Aguilera is probably best known for essentially ending Oleg Maskaev and nearly KOing Adamek in his comeback fight after the Vitali coddling. Breazeale will have his chin tested for sure, but Aguilera is essentially a 3 rd fighter. If he aint able to catch ya and hurt ya early, chances are he'll go into sparring partner mode and look to survive. Ortiz is highly ranked by the WBA. PPl **** and moan about Wilder's ranking being artificial, but Ortiz has beaten less quality than Wilder. His best win to date is against an OLD Luis Pineda, who was once upon a time, a SOLID, if not quality CW. Ortiz steps in against one of this generations top gatekeepers. At 35, and 5 yrs into his pro career, Ortiz shouldve been fighting the Barretts and the Ibragimovs a couple yrs ago. Barrett looks to be in great shape, as always, but at 43 y/o, even with a win here, he doesnt stand much chance of making noise again. Only thing certain in this bout though, is that Monte Two Gunzz Barrett will NOT lay down for stout SP. Barrett will bully his way inside, and one of em's getting KOd. Barrett was himself stopped in his last fight nearly 2 yrs ago, when he underestimated slick punching Shane Cameron. :nono Gerald Washington is getting some hype locally, and Skipp Scott is a solid Clevel club fighter. If Washington wins this fight vs Scott, that win, along with his win over veteran toughguy, Sherwin Williams would pit him nicely inside the top 40. Gotta love HW boxing, especially when these talented fighters start making a name for themselves. thumbsup:thumbsup
Breazeale, saw him fight a journeyman the other day live, he is really poor boxer. Ortiz looks like a legit contender, yet only fights soft touches. Why is that so? very strange. He will make a gigantic leap against Povetkin. one I don't believe he will overcome. Haven't seen Washington yet.
WOW, great match making....the 20-0 Ortiz is fighting a 43 year old Monte Barrett who has 1 win in the last 5 years. Match ups like this are just bad for boxing
