https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/211183804?searchTerm=dominick mccaffrey that was a good little article about McCaffrey Sullivan. Note that the official programs seems to list one or 2 of the ND / lost fights CBZ has as wins for McCaffrey. https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/207895665?searchTerm=dominick mccaffrey That one has an article from Corbett who claimed to have suffered from rheumatism when he took the McCaffrey fight. He answered an advertisement and solved it by taking some Pink Pills! And here is Tommy Loughran's views on some of the old timers, which seems quite topical and does pose a perfectly legitimate question, if everyone is honest. https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/183959785?searchTerm=dominick mccaffrey
It really was different times in McCaffrey's times. I wonder how Rademacher (or any other modern fighter) would have fared if McCaffrey's brother was in his corner at ringside. https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/136620591?searchTerm=dominick mccaffrey
I'd go with Pete, who recently passed to win via later round TKO. He was much bigger, and presumably more skilled. If McCaffrey had a bit more power, I think he would have a chance. I do think McCaffery was tougher, but at the end of the day if you are small you either need big time power or top-end speed, and McCaffery had neither at heavyweight.
If the brother of your opponent suddenly jumps into the ring with a gun, sticks it under your nose and threaten to blow your head off - I can't think of anyone, who wouldn't be pretty scared! But should stuff like this really influence how we believe, Rademacher would do in a fantasy match-up with McCaffrey?
