Wilfredo Bazooka Gomez (circa 1985 Rocky Lockridge version) vs Rafael Bozooka Limon (circa 1982 Navarrete/Il Choi/Chacon 4 range) at Super Featherweight Who wins?
Limon stops him. Lockridge allowed Gomez to survive because of some sort of mental lapse or tiredness. As it is, that was a terrible decision anyway. Limon was kind of immune to tiredness or the burden of overthinking things, he just came at you till you fell.
Interesting fight, Philly. Gomez was so much better than Limon but not at this weight. His win over Lockridge was a disgraceful decision and he got KO'ed by Alfredo Layne the next year. Limon was better than Layne and wouldn't give two shits about going to war from the opening bell. I can see Gomez trying to keep Limon off him and using his superior skills but by 85 he didn't have the legs to keep that up and he'd end up having to slug it out - Bazooka v Bazooka - but Limon had the bigger guns at 130. By round 8, Gomez would be down and out.
Limon knocks him out IMO. Anyone else just love Limon's style? Or a better question, does anyone not?
Limon is fascinating to watch. He's so aesthetically offensive you can't look away. It's what you would get if you gave a chimpanzee a fifth of bourbon and then showed him a female in heat. That kind of attack.
