It would be almost impossible to overstate how important he was to boxing in Los Angeles.

Wasn't he a peer of Aileen Eaton and George Parnassus?

He was matchmaker for Eaton and the successor to Parnassus. That's actually a bit of an oversimplification because they all had more diverse careers than that, but they were the big 3 of the whole LA/Olympic Auditorium/etc. boxing scene.

The great fights that Parnassus, Chargin, & Eaton brought to L.A. will never be forgotten.

My mother taking me to the Olympic to see his cards was the most influential thing that has ever happened to me. Later on I trained a guy that was signed with his promotional company. Just a couple weeks ago his wife was inducted into the West Coast Boxing HoF.

Mickey Davies was the matchmaker at the Olympic Auditorium for a time during the 1960s. I think that Don Chargin was Davies' successor.
