Pryor being this avoided guy at WW (where he didn't even campaign) has gotten so overblown. I'd favor Curry with his precision punching and size advantage although Pryor's activity would make things uncomfortable.
I agree that Pryor being avoided is a little overblown. Well, I pretty much agree with the whole post. It's possible that Pryor could present similar problems to Curry that Honeyghan did, but these matchups are always prime for prime. I think that Curry would exploit Pryor's defensive lapses and certainly was a sharp defensive fighter in his prime. I think his size, precision, and power would be too much for Pryor (but I'd see Pryor as a live underdog).
...Pryor...was not...a welterweight. So, therefore, he was not an avoided welterweight. Pryor could've fought at lightweight and Curry was a big welterweight...and Pryor wasn't a welterweight...I don't understand this thread. HULK SMASH! This content is protected
I like Aaron, but he had problems with a faded Bobby Joe Young, albeit as faded, and Curry is one monster, albeit pre-Honeyghan, that he doesn't want to deal with.
*Like BE's says..Pryor wasn't a welterweight... He was the most avoided light welterweight of all time... *As great as Sugar Ray was... the one fight he didn't want was one with Pryor... pryor litterally stalked Leonard... Pryor offered to fight leonard in their pro debut... Pryor was kicking Howard Davis butt in sparring till he was fired... he refused to fight Pryor in their debut... *make no bones about it..Pryor was a bad muther....
Leonard offered Pryor a fight for far more money than he had ever made in his life. Pryor said no, and asked for more money. Pryor had his chance above 140 at Leonard & Duran, and a unification bout with at 140 with Mamby as well. Pryor's own personal/professional issues messed them up, despite the revisionist(HBO documentary) history.
I'm thinking Curry would beat the hell out of Pryor. Aaron was too small and easy to hit to be able to last with Curry. He was also a big hitter at WW.
Curry was no big deal. He had a few good years. Pryor could spot him 10 lbs and stilll kickm his butt.
curry had a few good years, pryor had a few good fights. curry was lined up to take hagler at 160 (and **** it, i say he wins)...WAY too big and skilled pryor
