Don The Con understood the magical power of a bag of cash to someone from an impoverished background.

yeh the money thing makes them hear what gthey want to hear, i can see that thanks....and the charismatic father figure they probably lacked in that upbringing. I get that too because I used to get drawn in line with a charismatic elder when i was younger, even imitating them...until i realised i was becoming the charismatic elder!

By and large left leaning. You can be rich and be left leaning. Many corporations are left leaning in their leadership. I didn't say they were out and out communists.

Watch Frontline or old episodes of Charlie Rose to see some serious leftist sh@t.

Charlie Rose was a while ago, & I have heard loberals say he shut down & was contemptuous of truly liberal voices.
The vast majority of media have long been owned & influenced by successful Conservative companies with increasing conglomeration & decreased diversity was more & more independent operators are bought up.
Right wing groups have been more successful at "working the ref"-moving the expectation of what is centrist & the whole spectrum of political opinions rightward.
While progressive positions continue to be popular & long term, at least in social issues, things move to the left.

Whatever one believes, one of the worst phenomenons-for Democracy, human decency, & the social fabric...
Is people on both sides being vicious, demeaning & distrusting the good intentions of most everyone on the "other" side.
It is a national malady on par with racism & sexism.
This flourishes in anonymous forums & is a form of self-juvenilizing Hate Speech: from both sides.

Many corporations are left-leaning in their leadership?
    No sir.
Almost none are, and absolutely none are above a certain size. Large multinational corporations do not have ideologies. The have stakeholders. Any superficial appearances to the contrary are just PR.
"But James Damore!" you may say.
All that case proves is the entirely unsurprising fact that HR is almost no different from PR.

Charlie Rose is a neoliberal corporatist who has had Thomas Friedman and undeniable war criminal Henry Kissinger on his show upwards of fifty times each, and Noam Chomsky twice (despite openly admitting that Chomsky is far and away his most frequently requested guest) the second time only in Charlie's absence after getting his ass handed to him on a silver platter in the highly adversarial first interview. (Which, by the way, it is most instructive to contrast with the fellatio Charlie routinely performed on Friedman and Kissinger, both of whom are insects compared to Chomsky, intellectually and ethically.)

    https://www.quora.com/Why-do-most-b...benefit-them-by-a-mile-tax-cuts-subsidies-etc.

This explanation is better than anything I can write.

Notice the discussion of Corporate Foundations, like the Ford Foundation, which has historically been a big $ contributor to PBS.

    *chortle*

This is why Quora is not a primary source. The dipshits on that board are repeating the old canard that the ills of regulatory capture countervail, perforce, any possible benefits of regulation, which is one of the most snot-bubble-blowingly idiotic ideas ever expressed in any human language. It's a shame we can't fully explore this proposition here, because you simply don't have a leg to stand on.

I think it would really go a long way if people could just understand the relatively simple fact that almost all political discussions that take place in controlled public fora (eg. television, newspapers, think tanks, sponsored panel discussions that appear on the internet...) are entirely insincere farces that have nothing to do with any ideology or sincere conviction, but exist for the express purpose of advancing the perceived commercial interests of those who pay for these programs and events to take place.

Neither genuine, sincere leftists nor genuine, sincere conservatives have any significant representation in these fora. It's amazing how few people understated that Adam Smith and Karl Marx actually had far more in common with each other than they do with the vast majority of their modern exponents. For example a crucial moral precept to both men was that human beings are entitled to the products of their labor.
