There seem to be endless stories of fighter king has exploited, but it doesnt stop them lining up to sighn for him. Which fighters have actually benefited greatly from the world of king?
King puts fighters in positions to fight for titles and make more money. The problem is he wants a bigger share of the pie for his troubles. Is this wrong, probably not in the beginning, but once a fighter establishes themselves as a legit champion, the pie should become more evenly split and it never does with King. The list is endless of fighters who benefited from King, but there is also a long list of fighters he stole from other promoters who worked hard and fairly moved their fighters in positions for title fights. These fighters usually find out that Kings promises go unfounded once they are with King.
We dont know what the cut was with these fighters. The fighters could be happy with what they got, and not known what King stole from them. The same can be said for the guys who complained to be robbed. The guys that really got robbed by King were the guys who were both promoted and managed by his company Monarch Management run by King's son, Carl, or the two clowns Horne and Hollaway that managed Tyson. The companies allowed King to show fair play on the fight paydays, but allowed him to embezzle monies through false training costs, and overall fight related expenses. Some of the information is available in books, and the things that King did with Tyson's money were so blatantly criminal it was a joke.
Wow you should go work for King . Maybe read the book from Tysons chauffeur. It has pictures of documents were King charged Tyson 5 grand for an oil change. Tyson also paid for Kings entire familys cell phones. If Tyson wanted a car, King bought it, and leased it to Mike Tyson Enterprises for double the cost to him. These were the ways King stole from his fighters.
Never let it be said I don't DELIVER here at ESB. Ruiz is of course the WORST example of King taking some mediocre fighter and getting him into the rankings and favorable treatment from officials. Ruiz would have been lucky to win a regional belt without King's influence. But Ruiz is the tip of the iceberg. King's been corrupting the sport ever since I've been following boxing - particularly the HW division. The bogus Ring tournament in the late 70s. The blatant rip offs of fighters like Tim Witherspoon and Mike Tyson - to say nothing of how he and his flunkies RUINED Tyson and led to the self-destruction of what might have been one of the two or three best HW careers EVER. The musical chair mediocrities that he switched around in the WBA and later WBC titles in the 80s. And of course the early 00s divided title era of which Ruiz was the most revolting and undeserving example. And this is just a PARTIAL list of King's corruption of the sport!! atsch Everyone who thinks King is ANY good at all should read The Life and Crimes of Don King by Jack Newfield - the definitive expose on this exploiting, corrupting, and coniving piece of trash.:yep
couldn't of said it better myself he has been lining his pockets at the expense of fans and fighters. But you ask why do fighters sign with him? well ask ruiz,Briggs,Golata to name a few who got undeserved title shots because of him having the ABC's in his pocket.....oh yeah another guy named Ray Austin had his well deserved title shot as well.
