    Hi guys,

Sure Don King had his share of scandals, but who can deny that at least 75% of the mega-fights that happened were not as a result of Don King?

Also, if it were not for Don King ripping fighters off, they would have made hefty pay-days and then retired after their first mega-fight to fight no more!

Take a look at what's happening now? Fighters are retiring after one 1 million dollar pay-day and leaving the sport. Take a look at Mayweather's dodging!?!? If he were a Don King fighter he would be fighting everyone until he's 60! What the fans want to see anyway....

    Whatsayu?

I always thought King was great for boxing and Arum worse. I remember Arum after Michael Nunn fought Barkley ripping into Nunn saying he was no good just because of a contract dispute. He made himself bigger than the sport. King on the other hand put on great cards for the money and I thought gave us all he could. I never really thought badly of Don King.

He probably did help more than he hurt, but it's real goddamn close. I'd say about 51/49.

... sorta like the crap majority decisions his fighters get when the fight is close.

King is like the fat kid that knows how to make chocolate bars... I mean, he's really good but he sure as hell gets his own share!:hey

yea but ripping fighters off, fixing rankings and corrupting judges is pretty bad man.... sure there is a fair share of personal responsibility that comes with doing business, but he really should not have ripped and corrupted the system the way he did!

Pat I disagree with your thread topic. Besides destroying the careers, in some cases lives of many boxers, Don King cookie cut the sanctioning bodies and postponed unification bouts or eliminated them entirely. It is a known fact he had Jose Suliman (this was even sarcastically depicted in 'The Great White Hype') and the WBA in his pocket book, leap-frogging undeserved prospects into higher ratings for decades simply because they were managed by Don King. The WBO exists as a 'major belt' thanks to Don King, yet another BS ABC belt with 'credibility'- just what boxing needed.

He destroyed the career of the greatest American Heavyweight of the last 23 years, Mike Tyson. I believe he was responsible for the creation of 'champions' such as John Ruiz and Valuev.

The Pros- He gave us 'Rumble in the Jungle' -- which Foreman/Ali would have happened without him anyway, free PPVs for military, and pretty good PPV undercards.

    * Bob Arum was and always will be the white 'Don King' of the lighter weight divisions.

Nope, if Don King didn't exist it would have made boxing much more better then it is today. The guy is a ****er, and I hope he gets murdered for the crimes he's committed.

This. He probably did more overall good than bad for the sport, but he ****ed over a lot of fighters in order to accomplish that.
