The quality is crappy. The audio is crappy. But it's a pretty obscure fight so bear with it and be amazed.

This is one of the craziest/most ludicrous fights I've seen in modern boxing, say the past 30 years. I completely believe it belongs in the same class as the ridiculous Norwood/Gainer match, where they make speed bags out of each others testicles. I can't think of anything that comes close to this exact match... Hitting a fighter after FOUR separate knockdowns? Absolutely surreal. Give it a watch, and be astounded...

Someone needs to see this, even if only as an oddity.

Can anyone else even remotely think of a modern fight that's this bad with fouls? You'd have to dig into that Argentinian guys resume I'd imagine, Lazarte I think his name is.

I refuse to believe that I can't get a single person on a boxing forum to watch a six knockdown back and forth slugfest that I know not very many have already seen....

Whitaker would have been justified to hit Lee with a chair.

    that was insane

Lee beat the crap out of Whitaker in the sixth round.

Why did he keep hitting Whitaker when he was down?

Some have posited on the you tube comments that he threw the fight.

There is no other logical explanation. He was warned after the second and third knockdowns and yet he did it again after the fourth knockdown.

LOL at Whitaker riding on is corermens' shoulders after the DQ was announced

Whitaker started the fight well but after a couple of rounds and getting knocked down twice by wild single shots, Lee dominated the last four rounds.
    Whitaker had absolutely NO defense.

He was punching long after Whitaker was down, very late and very deliberate, so maybe he was trying to get DQ'd.

For some reason I have a memory of Lee in fights where he didn't fight exclusively southpaw, much earlier in his career. I must be confusing him with someone else.

Well, he was a switch hitter in the Sibson and DeWitt fights, so maybe that's where you're remembering it from?

Lee did indeed batter him. Whitaker is from the Mickey Ward school of stopping punches, and doesn't even try to pretend to know how to catch a shot on his gloves.

I also saw the Youtube comments and while I can't say I know what did or didn't happen, it's definitely one of the weirder fairly modern fights that I can think of. What would possess Lee to hit a downed opponent, blatantly, that many times? Even Terry Norris at times was like "whoops, got carried away". Lee just keeps bouncing punches off his downed opponents head like it's no big deal.

It's worth noting that because of the Lee win and one defense of the hokey title he won from him in this fight, Paul Whitaker actually ended up getting something Don Lee himself never had... a crack at a major belt. Whitaker went on to fight Christophe Tiozzo in France for the WBO belt, and was stopped in eight rounds.

.....So maybe Lee did take some $$ to throw the fight.

Crazy that Don Lee, who had the huge win over Sibson never got a title shot, and the medicore Paul Whitaker did so. LOL.

Whittaker had dynamite in his hands.....until the accumulation of punches and fatigue got him he hurt Lee with everything he landed even the arm punches seemed to hurt him then Whittaker fizzed out.....Lee deserved to get hit in the nuts for that and the referee should of had his license pulled that was dispicable the way he lost control.
