Donaire against a high guard

no it's he has a trouble creating offense. he likes to wait for the opponent to open up which creates openings. people talking about his size don't know what they;'re saying because donaire height IMO will have a negative impact against a fighter like rigo. size means nothing in this fight.

donaire likes to wait for openings and has a trouble creating offense. If he waits vs Rigo he will be hurt, belive me, because Rigo is quicker and has a lethal left hand which he sets up perfectly to the body and head.

call me a donaire hater or rigo nuthugger but IMO rigo has a good shot at a stoppage here, either way I see Rigo putting the hurt on Donaire, but Donaire has KO power no doubt, this is the beauty of the fight.....

boxing fans will be getting a real treat in two weeks, i cannot wait.

If maroquin can touch Rigo i'm sure Donaire can. Donaire dropped SPVASTIC jnr and everyone and they started to shell and run like slick boxers do.

It will only take one or two on Cuban glass to shatter. But Rigo is training hard and by the looks of it. Donaire will have a hard time landing his punching.

Interesting fight. I have watched the tape and I am favoring Rigo at this stage.

Well Donaire does tend to head-hunt a bit. He's capable of throwing to the body but it's not something I can recall him doing with consistency. He also likes to pick his punches and keep the combinations short and sweet, so a high guard minimizes the risk. It's also something a lot of fighters commonly use against faster fighters to give themselves extra protection and have their hands in position to throw power shots in between a faster opponent's flurries.

 

Haven't been this excited for a fight in so long, we've had some nice slugfests and foty candidates so now time for some technical boxing, I'm rooting for Rigo and he has the ability to win by points or decision but I just think his chin will let him down, I can see him getting dropped quite a bit then losing confidence but if it holds up he can definitely win this

 

I'll be honest with you, I don't think I've ever been this excited for a fight. I'm a HUGE Mayweather fan but this matchup is so intriguing. The styles, and EVERYONE has a different opinion on it.

I'm really thinking about going, I on'y live about 20 mins away, but I have no one to go with.....woudl be weird going alone, yea?

This fight won't appeal to the casuals just the hardcores so its not too bad if you go by yourself

It's not weird at all to go to a fight by yourself.

 

Everyone there will be with buddies and their girl and I'll be there all alone.....seems so awkward.

i went on ticketmaster and was about to push the purchase button then pussied-out.

 

He struggles to look spectacular and KO them, but all fighters do against particular defenses or fighters.

He won every 30 second span against Narvaez. Lost no more than 3 rounds to each of Mathebula and Vazquez. He stopped Mthalane on cuts in the sixth round when he opened up and seemed to show his dominance. Narvaez never gets hurt, Vazquez has been in wars before and after the Donaire fight where he took a lot of punishment but only to Arce in the 12th truly wilted, Mathebula is tall and rangy, and Mthalane doesn't get hurt either and is the second best flyweight in the world right now, years after Donaire beat him... If these are his worst world class performances than I'll say his resume is in great shape and his weaknesses against their styles are relatively minimal.

On Saturday night if there's boxing on and people ask me to go clubbing or something I say no and then sit their on my own til 5am watching boxing with coke and some food, who gives a **** what people think fights like this hardly come around

Hell no.

I went to Mayweather/Ortiz with my two brothers, but the whole time we were hanging with this 60 year old guy who was by himself. He flies out to one fight a year in Vegas by himself and soaks it up. He was a badass. Do it.

Plus, when you're by yourself you can stand around certain areas and try to find the HBO crew, fighters, or other celebs walking around without having a crew of people whining and wanting to go other places. I walked past and said "whats up" to Steward as we entered the MGM arena and after the fight when everyone was marching out like penguins to the casino Lampley was bolting by like a bat out of hell through the crowd (it was weird, he had a purpose, but was walking to nowhere...). A pack of guys next to me stopped him and asked him what he thought. I literally was right next to him, breathing on his face, when he said in typical Lampley excited voice "I called it a legal blow! I called it a legal blow during the broadcast!"
