I think that Nonito Donaire and Rios should be getting a lot more money now. Rios got 500k and Donaire got 750k. If Berto could get over 1,000,000 for fighting an easy fight like Freddy Hernadez, and only sells a few hundred tickets. Rios and Donaire should get over 1 million each because they sell a hell of a lot more tickets for each of their fights.

They belong to the Bobfather so they'll keep making just a fraction of what they really deserve

Sadly this is true, yet you cannot really feel bad for them because they keep on resigning with him :patsch

Al Haymon spot on. Rios' style is insanely entertaining, and he sells a assload more tickets then Berto does. It's all about Haymon, glad Leo Santa Cruz is signed with him :p

Rios is turning into a very nice draw. He'll be making 7 figures pretty soon if he stays in shape and keeps winning.

Rios has a Chipotle sponsorship; Donaire is a movie star.

Haymon somehow convinces the HBO executives that his fighter should get the most money possible against the less stellar competition. Good for the fighter and Haymon, but bad for us. HBO wastes more money on their yearly budget on mismatches that shouldn't be on HBO to begin with and his fighters don't seem to be attractions. A live audience is crucial to boxing. How bad does it look to see a fighter on the network of champions, making upwards of a million dollars while the ballroom, arena, whatever is 3/4 empty. Do you ever see NFL games with empty seats?
Here is a very interesting and informative article from the New York Times on Haymon.

A lot of people on this board seem to hate Bob Arum because he supposedly makes fights only he wants, but the man is a REAL promoter and his company knows how to make stars and it has been proven over and over again.

Over paying for **** fights was a big problem with HBO and GBP and heads rolled. Rios and Donaire will continue to make decent purses. Berto? Probably not.
