This fight only sold because of Rios/Alvarado..Rios is from Oxnard and this fight was in Southern California with an enormous Mexican fan base. Rios was the draw here.

Did you hear all the Nishioka chants? His people even traveled pretty well.

They need to market Donaire in the Bay Area. There is no reason he can't put butts in the stands in Oracle like Ward.

  6. The Same Toshiaki Nishioka who is Ranked #1 SBW above Rigo and Donnaire. That will change if Donnaire stays at SBW Donnaire #1 Rigo #2.
Tell me how many PPV buys does Rigo do?? or how many bums in seats does he sell?? Exactly

Donaire is shitty to watch...IMO, I can think of a fight of his that's actually been fun to watch. I don't question his talent or ability, but he's ducking Rigo and it's seriously stupid as ****.

The money isn't there quite yet. Donaire made 750K for this fight and Rigo made 150K for the Marroquin fight.

A Rigo win over Arce/Vasquez in the spring would up HBO's interest to buy the fight. This fight really does need to be built because the money just isn't there yet.

Donaire's people know this is the biggest fight to be made for him. There's no one at 126 that would offer much intrigue. Maybe Gamboa at 130, but that's still far off. They want this to be a cash in fight. Like 7 figure cash in.

Donaire fight will look like Nish. Rigo is too passive with a glass chin.

Ok Rankings are there for a reason...so right back at you, Rigo is a title holder and Ranked number 2 at super bat. It makes perfect sense for Nonita to fight him.

Never said Donaire was the main reason why this fight sold. But the fan base of Donaire is not comparable to Rigo's, really. I've been Home Depot Center before and if there's a Filipino fighter scheduled to fight there, Filipino fans will go watch him. I'm not excusing Donaire for his lack of desire to fight Rigo, though.
