There are differences between a Donaire-Darch rematch and Donaire-Arce fight. A Darchinyan fight makes no sense anymore (unless he wins another big one) it's already done. An Arce fight didn't happen yet. Whatever your case is, Arce is still a big name, exciting and a good business fight to deal and a December fight is a perfect time to do it. No way you go for a risky fight when you're overfighting in a year. Save the better fights next year. Donaire's already done this year. Arce is a bonus fight. Got it? :good

I don't want to make disappointments here bro but I think a Rigo fight is not a step-up ladder for Donaire at this point. I know Rigo is good and he will give Donaire a big challenge I know that but I don't think he's not bringing Donaire to a new level of heights assuming they both fight now.

I'm all in for a Donaire-Rigo fight but I understand what others are saying. As good as Rigo is as a fighter, RIGO NEEDS TO INCREASE HIS LEVEL. Cause Donaire is going to the ring bringing up all he has achieved, all his recognitions (pound4pound rankings), all his fame and all what he can bring about to make Rigo famous against Rigo bringing up nothing much significant but his talent only. IT'S NOT A BIG FIGHT BETWEEN BOTH OF THEM FOR NOW - that's how it is. Donaire is a big step-up for Rigo but Rigo is not a big step-up for Donaire.

For alot of fans of Rigo (especially Cubans like you), that's a good news but for Donaire fans - not worth to deal with. That's just how it is.

So I should say LET RIGO FIGHT A SIGNIFICANT FIGHT TO CATCH ATTENTION FOR AND WIN IT AND DONAIRE FIGHTS HIM AFTER THAT. As for now, he is not a priority, especially business-wise in the sport.

I'm glad his plan backfired. Donaire asked for the Arce fight to make a lot of money. And now looks like money is the reason the fight is being canceled. Seriously, beating Arce is not going to be any different than beating Montiel. Donaire is as popular as he can get. There is nobody in his division who can turn him into a PPV star in just one fight. Might as well clean out the division and win the respect of hardcore fans.

 

Rig has what??? 11 fights? Let's BUILD this fight up. Rig is capable....but his name and popularity isn't exactly soaring the way it could or should be. Partly because he hasn't been active enough. At this point Rig doesn't have enough professional bouts/rounds to be a real challenge for Nonito.

Most of his hype comes from his incredible AM resume which is nothing to over look....but the AM's are NOT the Professional ranks and so far I've seen Rig improve....but not as quickly as MOST blue chip rookies progress in the same amount of time.

Rig needs to build his brand....get more exposure and stay active....if he can do that for the next 12 months a Nonito/Rig fight would be massive by this time next year.

It's just a little pre mature right now.

 

People need to stop worrying about what donaire is gonna do and focus on whaat rigo should be doing to earn a shot.

like face wvjr, terrazas, darchynian, even abgeko would be a huge step up for rigo and if he shines then bring on donaire... Rigo needs an opponent who troubled donaire and dominate him like wvjr.

but read my last sentence, rigo needs a guy who troubled donaire like wvjr, if rigo dominates wvjr someone who troubled donaire it would be a big boost to his career.

rigo needs the big names too if he wants to force a showdown not just cry and beg for a shot, he can force big fights by facing guys I mentioned above and dominating them.
