But we're talking about Donaire. He's not just a Fighter. He's a World Champ. He Koed the Most feared Fighter at 112. Donaire don't need to beat a lesser 115 fighter before Montiel. He's a Proven fighter. His style is like PBF, he has a better chance to be sucessful at a higher weights because of his style. He's also Taller & Longer than Montiel.
dude, i'm not saying he can't beat montiel. what i'm trying to point out is that saying donaire will beat montiel at 115 because "he fought at 115 before" is not a strong arguement. and IMO donaire should, and by the looks of it, he will take a fight at 115 before challenging for a title. montiel already has something sheduled. donaire should also try to stay busy
i got your point..but isn't it the same as with darchinyan? He never fought a contender at 112 nor has he beaten anyone noted before darchinyan. Ok so lets say darchinyan is not in the same level as montiel, you can have an argument with that but its the same with other former champs from lower weight going up 1 div higher to fight for a title. Too many example but recent example would be the first Marquez-Vasquez fight where marquez who came from a lower weight won
donaire competing at 112 before had nothing to do with his win against vic. he was because the is the better fighter. anyway, i get what you are saying and i respect that. i just have a different view on things, i'd rather judge a fight by looking at the strengths and weaknesses of the fighters rather than their weight.:good
Donaire... Z gorez schooled Montiel for the first 9 rounds before he got hit kd by a bodyshot. Donaire is better than gorez in almost every aspect and has more speed and power.
You're wrong with this one. Donaire is the truth. Mijares technical ability may have gotten him where he is thus far, but Donaire has far to superior athletic ability and just enough confidence to pull this off.
Margarito was never given the opportunity to prove me wrong. Berto hasn't lost yet, but he needs to improve his footwork, defence, variety in his attack, and stay away from the top guys in the division at this point until he clears all that up. He could very well be the truth in the division if he changes his approach from a methodical pressure fighter who doesn't go to the body enough and comes in straight lines to a boxer puncher who takes angles and looks for openings. Then expect his superfast hard hitting hands to take over the division, but at that point you'll be banished for betting on Mijares over Donaire.
gorres is a B-level fighter (just like darchinyan) but he gave montiel such a very hard time. donaire, on the other hand is A-level but not yet elite. he definitely has much more skills, speed, and punching power than gorres. he also has the physical advantage of being taller, having a longer reach and faster than montiel. that's why imho donaire will win this one. donaire is a natural 115 lbs. fighter. he started his career at this weight and most of his fights were at this weight.
