Donaire: "I Definately Want Darchinyan Again - I Want To Kill This Guy"

I'll make a bet with you that in a rematch vic destroys donaire.. you name the bet:good

 

While I agree with the outcome, I do not agree with how you arrived there logically. Fighters can be blindsided by a style they haven't seen before and not be able to make the adjustment on the fly in that same fight (but then be able to make it after analysis and preparation). For instance, I would call a Darchinyan-Mijares rematch about 50/50 (and that's not just because I was a big CM pumper...if I was really nuthugging I'd say I favored him) because Cristian is a cerebral guy and wouldn't go into it without scrutinizing the hell out of what happened and picking apart what he can do to beat the guy. Vic Darchinyan is many things - he is not cerebral. He would waltz into a Donaire fight with little but his confident peacock strut coming off a great string of wins and his same old "flirty gorilla" stance and Nonito would chinny chin chin him in no time flat unless Darch was able to get something lucky in from a weird angle in his scorched earth attack and put Donaire himself to sleep.

 

I think that Darchinyan has shown a much better defensive approach in his fights since Nonito...albeit against guys different and at times inferior to Donaire.

His overall style and skillset might not have changed a lot...But his footwork and his judging of distance looks better...He also seems a little more careful and methodical.
Against Nonito he was squaring up and lunging like nobodies business...Saw much less of that in the Mijares, Kirilov and Arce fights.

 

Thats what I saw to...Nonito is a stalker, he likes to measure things up and it all came together nicely in the 5th.

I think Vic is a capable of a better performance then that...whether that equates to a win or not..we will hopefully wait and see..but Nonito isnt doing himself any favours at the moment.

 

Granted,Vic would fight a total different fight than the way he did against Donaire no question about that, I just didnt see anything he could do in the rematch that would merit the fight into his favor. And the way how Mijares performed in his last fight still being cocky the guy still hasnt learned his lesson and I would be 110% confident of Vic winning a rematch.

 

well said, even though I heavily favor Donaire over Vic in a rematch, I respect Vic's career more by far.

 

You've seen the Cermeno fight? How accurate were the scorecards?

 

Donaire will lose.

 

I have not heard one person score it for Cermeno who claims to have seen the fight.

I only saw a shitty copy that was missing rounds not long after the fight...I had Cristian getting better of the rounds I saw.

Mijares looked below par but seemed to be landing the cleaner blows ..Cermeno was only so- so...raw but powerful.

 

The loss to Donaire has made Vic a better fighter. He will KO Donaire in the rematch.

 

I think Vic takes him in a rematch. Vic was underestimating him and was ill prepared the first time. He will be more prepared, more patient the next time. Vic has improved while Donaire is rusting. Donaire will also be fighting Vic at a higher weight. I favor Vic to win the rematch if it hopefully happens.

 

Also, it's interesting that both fighters are in tough upcoming fights. I see Donaire scoring a TKO or UD against Hugo Cazares in a hard fight and I give Darchinyan a slight edge against Agbeko due to King Kong's power and pressure.

 

Donaire is a bad match up for Vic stylewise. Donaire beats Vic in any weight class

 

It will go a bit longer in a rematch, but Nonito will KHTFO again. He's just the better overall fighter. The only way to know for sure though is if Garry Chow stops being afraid to let Vic take the fight.
