Says he will go back to 122 via FB ..hopefully he has a rematch with Rigo who knows but he can't compete against the big guys .. Thoughts ? :bbb
I thought he said he couldn't make the weight anymore after the Rigo fight. Man, if I see Donaire in the streets, I'm gonna effin call his ass out.
didn't he move to 126 because he was having trouble making weight at 122 which supposedly weakened him against Rigo ?:think so will he become better by draining himself again?
first and foremost, Donaire needs to go back to Victor Conte and BEG him to be his s/c again then he needs to follow the Danny Garcia example and have a couple matches against abysmal bums to rebuild his lost confidence if things go well, he could challenge Santa Cruz and maybe become relevant again if he wins by no means he should get anywhere close to Rigo, who'd school him again
He's stuck between weight classes. It happens, especially as fighters age. Too big to cut to 122, but too small for guys at 126. Gatti retired when this happened to him. He was too big for 140, but too small for 147.
I think Cotto has been having the same problems for a while regarding 147-154, now that you mention it
he has enough power to stay at 126. what he needs is a new trainer or sign with haymon, fight salka's brother and/or his cousins.
nonito is too old and looks like he has lost the hunger to train at a top level. time to retire if he has any dignity, otherwise keep fighting for paychecks against smaller men.
Yes, I almost forgot about that. I think the other approach is finding the right coach and adapting his style. Cotto has overall success doing this. At 122 and below Donaire used to be the taller fighter and catching fighters with his power at full reach. At 126 I think he needs to learn how to get the fight on the inside with hooks and short punches.
Do it. Im sure it will end well. As for the move, iots a good one. He was massively overpowered against Walters and theres lots of good fights at SBW.
Can't see Hearn throwing Quigg to Donaire, and definitely don't see Donaire coming to Britain, unless Hearn thinks Donaire is completely finished.
