It makes too much sense financially not to fight Rigondeaux at this point in time. Arce would give Donaire a much bigger paycheck. Nishioka might as well (and frankly, that's the fight I want to see right now).
why would donaire fight rigondeaux? he is relatilvely unknown within the general public aside from those in the boxing circle and who does not pose a benefit financially speaking. arce would be a more lucrative fight from a financial standpoint. boxers nowadays fight for the paycheck not for their legacies which is a sad fact.....
wont be a cake walk for either...weve seen donaire look ordinary now against 2 top guys while still winning convincingly , while rigo is still unknown with elite comp...but then again, that was the case when Lewis destroyed Ruddock...all a guy needs is a chance to shine
And he is going to keep on ducking the Cuban master Rigondeaux. Many fans are right though, why should he risk his so called P4P status and lose it against a fighter who is still not highly known as Rigo? In terms of finances he is making the right move but yes he is depriving boxing fans of a great match up between these two. I have no doubt that Rigo exposes him bigtime but I am afraid that we will never get the opportunity to see that! Rigo should concentrate on beating the other champs at 122 ( Nishioka and the african guy ) to get some attention then see what happens. I am also afraid that if Rigo accomplishes that that Don~aire will automatically jump up to 126lbs.
it looks more like if Rigo will stick around 118-122. But bigger names in 126 and he can beat anybody up there as well.
in his 3rd fight fought a guy with a 59-11 pro record rigo probably had between 300 and 400 amateur fights... in his 7th pro fight he won his first title... doesnt mean he could beat donaire or not...but means as it stands right now, he is in the top 3 of his division and thats pretty damn good
mares is coming up to 122, its not a bad idea to have them fight. Rigo vs mares sounds good, since donaire is reluctant to fight. anybody for Rigo vs mares? or we are going back to high risk-low reward?
