Yes because that fight is guaranteed excitement which is what we need and want, Arce would come to fight and if he takes Donaire deep, might might cause problems. I dont see a problem with the Nishioka fight next either.

Now if Nonito was fighting a journeyman w/o fanbase yes people would call him out. Just because Rigo calls doesnt mean you jump when Donaire is the much bigger draw.

Last thing you would want is two very good pros duking it out without any steam. You have a couple of years to build this fight up to a good PPV level.

I gotta admit, Rigo's knockout was pretty spectacular.

 

By 9 fights Rigo has beaten already an ex champ( Cordoba) an european champ( Casey) and a current world champ (Rico)...solid journeymen like Beranza,Andrade.
I dont say Nonito is a bum- to call someone like donaire or rigo a bum exposes ignorance or resents.To say that Rigo is boring( winning 7 out 9 by KO, including beautiful body punches)and displaying an excellent defense,footwork and counterpuch around the ring is beyong unfair.
The reason why we want to see them fighting is because they are the best on that division-i dont want to see Rigo collecting belts or adding names to his resume,padding his record and been protected.I'd rather seen him fighting( winning or losing) against the best.Same with Gamboa.

 

I am predicting Arch to get sparked within 6 rounds. I would much rather see a technical match up if it means it will be competitive, and as you said Rigo isn't getting any younger.

I want this fight as a fan, I'll let the promoters worry about the finacial side. How about a Rigo / Mares fight with the winner taking on Donaire?
