I've watched the Darchinyan KO like a million times. It's definitely a ATG knock out.

My question is...

How the **** does he generate so much brute force without throwing it wide and long?

Short and tight is how u generate power. Donaire has great torque.

 

Darchinyan has a habit of moving forward with his hands down when throwing his big left so that does magnify the punch on the chin.

You don't want a a wide looping left hook, it has to be short and in a tight half-circular motion with your body's weight flowing with the punch that generates so much power in such a short distance.

Joe Louis, great example of somebody who can generate immense power over short distances
