It was all Bernabe's fault. Why blame it on the ref? Yeah, it was unintentional but definitely the punch came too long after the bell sounded. Plus Luevano came over to Concepcion to touch gloves as a sign of respect never expecting to be punched.

The ref was partly to blame, he should've been right there to break it up as soon as the bell sounded.

Luevano should also protect himself at all times, especially at that time.

I believe Concepcion didn't really heard the bell so the blow wasn't an intentional late hit. I do agree that he had to be Dq'd.

You heard the bell on the telecast?
No one, seriously, no one heard the bell all night long. Luevano's family thought he was legitimately KO'd and were freaking the frick out.
Even when Peterson fought, the place was a ghost town and we still couldn't hear it.

    Sounds about right.

The 10 second warning was loud as hell but there was no bell to be heard.

Exactly. Im a Filipino and there isn't any excuse of what Bernabe did.. It is not like they were on a heated exchange when the bell sounded.

What makes you so sure that they thought it was legitimate? I would think they were concern about his health more than anything. Seriously, if you seen some one close to you get laid out like that you would probably be panicking also.

There was a huge "OH F#CK!!!" moment and they didn't start complaining until after a few of the replays. Nobody heard that bell. Doesn't matter, Nady wasn't there when the round was over, kid hit him after the bell. Kid gets DQ'd. Game over. I was trying to debate whether or not it was intentional or not.

Does the phrase "Protect yourself at all times" in boxing mean anything anymore?
