maybe youre right and hopefully he can come back stronger. this is a huge step up in class for raul and it wasnt like he had 0 chance, he was finding a home for his overhand right which could have landed on the button. i just think that it has taken this guy a decade of some serious hard work to get to this moment for the ref to take his opportunity away when he is not really hurt. this is a title shot not a 6 rounder. i dont like this one but i can live with it.

i give viloria the chance because solis' style is suited for him...he doesnt need to exert extra effort in catching his opponents unlike sosa and romero. solis comes infront of him making him an easy target. also, im not surprised he won via KO because viloria had always had a one punch KO...

sosa rematch? sosa is the last line of mexican elite at lower weights. forget garcia, his reign wont last long..

you sound like fans in mexico. they let you know if they dont like the way you fight south of the border. come with your balls or dont come at all.

maybe you missed it, but i gave you a shout earlier. you were the only pinoy that seemed mildly optimistic towards brians chances.

viloria is like penalosa...fighters with limited style thus limited ability...
but i know questioned the decication of viloria for the sport...fighting at 108(not his comfortable weight)

    Well, PACLAND..

I love that place, there's sentimental value, that's the first boxing forum joined back in '04, (I only got 100+ posts in there, though) but that place is as over the top as you can get. Not all Filipino boxing fans post on the internet. PACLAND, they dont represent the whole Filipino boxing community.

The regular Filipino fan watching the fights in the barrios and the small towns feel that Viloria is talented, but his throwing away rounds and losing the fight through inactivity's heart breaking to watch.

You'd be surprised how many similarities the Filipino and Mexican culture has.

i felt he would come out and put on the fight of a lifetime and to my surprise, he did. i also thought the weight was a terrible idea. dont look for him to stick around 108 for too long.

i honestly do not know what viloria is thinking, he has very weight drained at 108. i hope he stays away from sosa..

and you'd also be surprised that a sizeable percentage of filipinos have mexican blood and vice versa. both sides helped each other gain their independence from spain and settled/married in their respective opposite countries.

Mexico and the Philippines are almost like blood brothers, because of the Spanish empire.

I fully understand the other side of the argument, but, I try and put myself in the ref's shoes. Could he have continued? Yeah, he got right up, but, it was probably only a matter of time before it happened again. I was rooting for Raul, but he just didn't do enough IMO for the ref to allow the fight to continue. Raul had his chances, and was simply outmatched tonight. Now, it all comes down to whether or not he can shake this loss off. That's the thing with boxing, you can have great talent/abilities, but if you let a loss fester, it can hurt you greatly. Only time will tell for Raul.

Sometimes brothers love to beat each other up.

Its only on the net that I've seen so much hostility between the two though.

In Phils only those with Spanish/Mexi blood or mestizos as we call them can claim to be blood brothers of Mehiko. :good
