    I agree.

    Donaire is no joke.

He's one hell of a boxer as well, and this would be a highly entertaining yet supremely technical bout.

The one shining difference is Donaire's power.

Donaire has been fighting at superfly before he came down in weight to fight Darchiryan.

I agree and that's why he'll beat Mijares not to mention he's a great counter-puncher as well.

not bein picky but you said with lower weights it doesnt matter as much then you say that he might not have as much power at the same weight????

the weight diff betweeen divisions does usually take into account height and build differences, which is why it is less in the lower divisions.

    Is everyone forgetting this man
    <<<<<<<

He's a seasoned pro, holds a title, and is already fighting at the same weight as Mijares.

Even out the odds? Huki and myself on plenty of occassions have KTFO PacD in the first round, though that's not a mark of merit because anybody who knows a little bit about boxing can do so, that'd be about 70% of the forum at ESB.

If you want to get serious. Make an Amsterdam/Huki team a 100/1 favourite over a team of PacD/Silvermags & Johnco. Even though our outfit has been broken up due to Brooklyn leaving.

Donaire relies on his speed though, Mijares has great speed also, but an amazing array of technical skill offensively and defensively to add to this, where as Donaire is a pot shotting power puncher who relies on his footspeed almost solely for defence.

Donaire as a good jab, but Mijares has a GREAT jab and the timing/accuracy department goes to Mijares in general in comparison to anybody under 126, his precise offensive work is some of the best in the sport and he throws at a high workrate, while making his opponents miss like crazy, even when he's working inside.

He's also an excellent ring general and extremely intelligent in the ring, Donaie on the other hand has shown a few spots where he relied on his corner to tell him what to do. This area is not comparable.

Styles go to Mijares by the way, a stiff jab can make Donaire unwary, see the few spots Maldonado pressed forward. Donaire also doesn't seem to like a workrate based fight, wanting to keep the workrate down to single shots and 1-2's often, where as Mijares is a combination master and throws every shot on the book.

Donaire has power, but it's a non-factor against a guy as slick as Mijares and I really think Donaire ought to be worried about Mijares' underrated power. Mijares is not a power puncher, but his shots tally up damage quickly and sting, he's been stunning some guys with pretty good chins lately with his perfectly timed shots.

Amsterdam, keep in mind: Donaire wants this fight because he knows all he has to do is win 3 or 4 rounds to get the decision. This is Mijares were talking about.

Very true, but there is a chance that he won't take that amount even, there's a good chance he freezes up like that one instance where I saw him do it and then Mijares will own over him with accurate work and keep it going round to round until Donaire's corner throws in the towel.

The Donaire fans are not looking at this correctly, Mijares is the much better and smarter fighter.

Donaire's only advantage is that he's stronger. He might be able to pull off an upset by landing the more solid shots, but Mijares is quicker, Mijares is better technically, Mijares is better defensively, Mijares has a higher workrate, Mijares has better footwork, and Mijares is a southpaw. That would be a lot to overcome for a fighter who is still relatively green and whose only accomplishment is beating someone who had SERIOUS technical flaws.
