Not surprised to be 100% honest. Rig is an exceptional boxer...he's got a lot of experience on the international scale, however..AM experience at a world class level is very different than PRO experience at a world class level. Nonito is proven and consistent at this scale....Rig is a big question mark. He's shown Amateur tendencies that doesn't translate well at this level....although he has shown a lot of great qualities because of the breadth and depth of his technical boxing skills. Nonito won't have a big problem with Rig. A lot of people are hyped up that Rig is supposed to upset the apple cart (so to speak) but Rig is not going to have the tools to beat Nonito who will be a MAJOR step up for the cuban. I'm excited for the fight but moreso because of the drama outside the ring.....I think Nonito will go in and make a statement and unfortunately for Rig....it will be at his expense.
Rigo is #2 in that division for a reason, he has tons of talent. With the being said, Nonito is also #1 for a reason and he's just better.
I don't dispute Rigo has a ton of skill and is fairly talented.....but he's not as fast, powerful or explosive as Nonito. Rig also only has a handful of fights as a pro.....not of his opposition has come close to the level that he'll be facing when Nonito is across from him. Rig....in my opinion is biting off more than he can chew and hasn't been as consistent enough to be ready for some like Nonito. If Rig is ranked #2 it's absolutely for a reason.....and it's not because he's beat and dominated all the best opposition...it's becuase the powers that be are teeing up this fight with the Flash and need to make Rig look more worthy.
